Publisher's summary

Darius Varkas is a drakon. He's neither human nor dragon.

He's both.

He's also the target of an ancient order who want to capture all drakons for their blood. When fresh, a drakon's blood can cure any illness and prolong a human's life, and the Knights will stop at nothing to get it.

When librarian Sarah Anderson stumbles across a rare book belonging to the Knights of the Dragon, she's quickly thrust into a dangerous world of secrets and shifters and things she never would have believed possible. When the Knights realize Sarah has a secret of her own, she becomes just as much a target as Darius. Her scary dragon shifter just might be her best chance at survival.

Hot suspenseful romance that keeps you enthralled

I loved, loved Darius and Sarah’s fated mates romantic suspense story with a side of mythical creatures and secret societies. The story grabbed me from the beginning and kept me enthralled to the very end. It was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline. I especially loved the contrast between Darius, a powerful and almost immortal drakon, and Sarah, a human. The contrast created rich three dimensional characters who are relatable and a more believable storyline. Sarah is a research librarian with the gift of psychometry and it is strongest with books. While working in a new job cataloging an extensive private library, she overhears a concerning conversation and discovers a dangerous book full of dark energy. This leads her to seek out Darius to warn him. As soon as they meet, Darius and Sarah are on a breakneck journey to figure out how to evade the Knights of the Dragon, destroy the book, protect the secret of drakons all the while falling in love. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends, tragic back stories, mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. The balance between the suspense and the romance was done perfectly. I am excited to read the next book in the series.

Samantha Cook did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I really love the added dimension listening brings to a story.

Please add more of this series to audible.

I enjoyed the narrator. I felt the best part was finding out about the gift that helps to stop the capture of a drakon. The rest is a whirlwind. I wonder what can be done with the tears? I enjoyed it. No cliffhanger but one by one of course they will all find mates. Each journey different but expected HEAs
