Fallon has been called to a mating match. He’s still hung up with a human but he has to go because of politics. He’s surprised it’s Maddie. Now he has to win her heart in a dangerous game. Maddie has to be strong to find out so much about herself that she didn’t know. She has to understand her feelings and choose in a life or death situation. Add in trouble from the outside and there is danger all around. This is a nail biter. #CMCom26

This is the first book I’ve read by Abigail Owen and I thought it was great. It was a nice introduction to her writing. I enjoyed the narration by Brian Palino and Melissa Moran. The blurb does a great job of describing the story so I’ll just say that this short novella really packed a punch and now I want to move on to the next book in the series.

Just when the story began to really take shape, it ended. It felt like this story could have played out much longer. Brian did a great narration - can listen to that voice forever🤩 Melissa was just ok. With a lot of readings under her belt she'll get better though.

this was a very predictable and simple story. I listened because there is a whole series with longer books and I'm hoping that the future books are more plot thick.

I loved this prequel to the Fire’s Edge series. Fallon is a blue dragon healer who is on an enforcer fire fighting team in the Americas. He has been called by the mating council to be part of the mating process for a recently discovered blue dragon mate. Maddie was a fire investigator when she started to show dragon sign by emitting sparks. Fallon and Maddie met prior to the mating council but separated when Fallon, unaware that she was a dragon mate, realized he was having too many feelings for a human. Now Fallon will do anything so she chooses him as her mate. Despite being short, the story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, good world building, and an engaging storyline as told through sweet moments, steam, chuckles, painful pasts, slight danger, plot twists, and love. I am excited to read more in this series.

Brian Pallino and Melissa Moran did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I really love the added dimension listening brings to a story.
