About this listen

Welcome to Demon Reform Academy, where demons are sent to hone their powers and become active members of supernatural society.

The Fates had dealt me a twisted hand. After a lifetime of abuse aimed at awakening a power I never even possessed, I devoured my mother's soul. Suddenly, I was face-to-face with a father who was oblivious to my existence and burdened with the knowledge that I was the sixth soul eater in all of Kalista.

My father, a representative on the Demon Council, offered me a chance at a new life. That new life, however, meant enrolling at the dark haven known as Demon Reform Academy. Being his daughter painted a target on my back, one that invited hostility and intrigue.

Five demons pushed their way into my life, each with a cryptic agenda—to break me or heal me. A chaos demon created havoc, determined to make me quit. A shadow demon craved my pain. A fear demon desired my terror. A vengeance demon sought to annihilate my tormentors. And a dream demon summoned me into his dreamscape every night.

I was here to work on myself, but a whirlwind of rumors, dark magic, and a secret society threatened to plunge the academy into deeper turmoil—and me along with it.

Just getting started!

Cannot wait for Term 2! This is the first novel of mine from Lyra Winter. This book was a recommendation and wow I cannot say enough what a refreshing change it was from my normal spice/darkness level of books I’ve been reading lately. The narrators were great, the story itself with the characters and storyline were captivating!

DUAL (not DUET) narration

Done in dual narration which is where the female narrator narrates both male and female parts…or every character. And the male narrator speaks both male and female parts…or every character. This style of narration is more of a reading of the story.

If you’re curious about the difference. Duet narration is when the female narrator speaks ONLY the female parts. And the male narrator speaks ONLY the male parts. This style of narration is More like a real conversation

S-L-OOOOOOOOOOO-W

The storyline is a good one. Each individual character is interesting. There's nice underlying moments of humor.
HOWEVER, this whole book barely progresses. It seems to keep going in the same non progressive circle. The long draw out gets to be frustrating considering halfway through the book the main character still remains as she was at the beginning of the story. There's no real progression in any of the other characters as well. By the end of this book it feels as though we need to decide if it's even worth it to go on to the next book. This should've been a one book story not a continuing saga.

Wow talk about an amazing book! It kept me on the edge of my seat every chapter and can we talk about that cliffhanger? No pun intended. This is amazing you def need to read it. Banter and sassy mates? Yes please. Over protected, jealous and lovable mates? Yesss

There was nothing to hold onto in this story

This author writes well but lacks an ability to balance out the story. It was just a sad book. The MFC doesn’t have any wins. Every moment that is good is ripped away right after. There is a difference between writing a character that grows, heals, and thrives and a character that’s abused her whole life and can’t catch a break. There were no intense moments of peace or good days, her “fated” mates are abusive and not in the dark romance way. Just ugh. I need a damn palate cleanser.
