Fantastic series!!

Beautifully woven main and sub plots, intricate characters, plus an enjoyable narrator! The protagonists develop in the most unexpected ways and wrestle with many physical and emotional trials. Highly recommended.

Great book but…

This was a great story, with a fresh new look at the story of MC. However my biggest complaint…….

Is how the MC just rolls over and doesn’t fight too get the girl. He had the chance multiple times to get with his love but stayed in the friend zone. What is worse is that the MC love interest gets her memories back just to lose them. That rabbit is the worse friend ever. She knows that the MC loves her friend and she is blocking him. If that was it I would be like ok there is a chance for the MC. But after the ending the MC just let her go…… that’s BS and here is a second place trophy by leveling up.

Some dumb mistakes to create a story

I've liked the authors work up until now. There are two core moments in this book that just tanked my view of the series. The first is the MC not signing the non-aggression contract. The second is the duel challenge. Both of these moves make no sense other than to raise stakes. Otherwise it was a good book.

Still coming strong!

The story was entertaining and kept good pace through out. Wasn’t my favorite or the series, I felt like the main character took a few steps back in certain areas of his development and it took most of the book to get him back up to par. Otherwise an entertaining addition to the series.

good, yet disappointing

this book is enjoyable enough, but it's very slow at the start. it's also got a lot of manufactured romantic melodrama that doesn't really fit for me, all caused by a one in a trillion chance occurance and just as you think the book is going to put it aside it doubles and then triples down on it.

Cha Ming's Character

This book is a great view into who Cha Ming is when what he wants is right in front of him, but to get it he'd have to hurt a friend. He struggles with his selfish hopes and his morals. He takes actions on both sides of his struggle as he attempts to come to terms with the situation at hand. It's honestly a great look into who Cha Ming is, and helps to establish him as a person, not some sort perfect being, but an individual that still strives for what he wants while trying to live up to his own ideals.

It's been a bit since I've read this book, and my review is in retrospect after having time to read more and even finish what's out of the series as of yet (up to book 17). In such a long book, there're more plot points I could touch on, but this is what has stuck out to my memories the most. Cha Ming struggling with his desires (a heart demon I suppose, if they've used that term yet) and being a good person. This isn't the biggest pivotal point for the MC, I can think of at least two others that had way more impact on him, but it was a defining curve for this arc of his life, in my opinion.

Honestly it’s like the MCs of this series just keep on getting punished by author

This is a cultivation series yet in two books the MC has barely made anyyyyy progress in cultivation plus these are the two longest books in the series right now. I know you have a thing for your MC and he’s progress in life but what was done in this book was too cruel. The whole reason for him wanting to get strong in the first place was put in front of him and engaged to his only best friend in this plane. And the MC being the freaking goody 2 shoes that he is doesn’t even try getting her at all. Do you know the conclusions we draw from this scenario. That means that either Cha Ming has chosen to give up on the girl and left her to his friend provided she stays alive and keeps on getting stronger or even more messed up, he is already sure that she’s going to die in this current life and he’s still going to press forward in finding her in reincarnation. So no progress in his crafts, no progress in cultivation, and a freaking regress in his love life and we had to bear all of this for 20 hours. If not for the fact that I already started the book and liked the earlier novels, I would be cursing the author right now.

cha ming's love story is ruining rest of story

having the woman the main character is in love with and searching for now getting married to a minor character that is supposed to be the main characters best friend on this plain just seems to much like a bad soap opera

Cha Ming is treated like the bad guy

This book made me very angry and frustrated.

Cha Ming doesn't want to work with the corpse of his ex girlfriend and for some reason he's treated like a bad guy? and Shou Bei, one of the only people who completely understands the situation and has ties to all people involved hates him for some reason?

and then this somehow turns into a gender issue? as if Mi Fei being a woman is the problem here, not Cha Ming's previous relationship, Mi Fei's petty attitude, or her young age. And then the author has the gall to say that everyone loves their mother more than their father.

honestly, I'm just completelt disgusted by the majority of the first few hours of the book. I liked Mi Fei when she was her previous self (however oo-en is supposed to be spelled). I had a big attachment to her character, Cha Ming's relationship with her, and understood why he would try to become an immortal to get her back.

Now? I just wish Cha Ming would move on and never talk to these two characters ever again. hell, I wish he just skipped this entire plane. I was looking forward to him meeting his old teacher, but now I don't think I'll ever make it there.

Big disappointment.


Oh yeah, and the fight scenes and magic in this series has always sucked.
