About this listen

In this third audiobook in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they're plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and prevent her army from invading Earth. Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl trapped on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she's being forced to work for Queen Levana, and she's just received orders to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice. When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is splintered. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price than she'd ever expected. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai, especially the cyborg mechanic. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Critic reviews

"Meyer continues to show off her storytelling prowess, keeping readers engaged in a wide cast of characters while unfolding a layered plot.... The momentum Meyer built in the first two books continues to accelerate.... The next installment cannot come fast enough." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Once again, Meyer offers up a science fiction fantasy page-turner that salutes women’s intelligence and empowerment.... Old and new romances, unfinished story lines, and the prognostication of wartime horrors all pave the way for Meyer’s much anticipated next installment, Winter, expected in 2015." ( Booklist)

I can't get enough of Lunar Chronicles!

Lunar chronicles is such a fantastic series and the next installment Cress doesn't disappoint. In this installment we have Cress (aka Rapunzel) joining the band of misfit princess'. Cress is a Lunar Shell that has been imprisoned on a satellite orbiting the earth for the last 7 years forced to operate as the queen's personal programmer/ hacker. Cinder attempts a rescue mission to spring Cress free when everything hits the preverbal fan. The whole group of outlaws must find away to regroup and stop the royal wedding between Queen Lavanna and Emperor Kia. I absolutely love the new futuristic spin on the classic princess fairy tales, the best spin of all is the damsel in distress princess' turning into kick-butt hero's and I love it! I hope "snow white" will be joining to gang in the next installment, which I am eagerly waiting for. Very credit worthy all the way.

Join the Revolution

Recall: Cinder, the Lunar cyborg mechanic, is still on the run from the evil Lunar Queen Levana. Cinder knows that she is the young missing Princess Selene and she is plotting to overthrow the queen with the help of Captain Thorne, Scarlet, and Wolf.

Cress has been imprisoned on a satellite since she was a girl. All of her solitude has been spent playing on her netscreens, which have made her an excellent hacker. Cress was the one who warned Cinder about Levana’s plan to kill Kai in the first book, and Cinder plans to repay the favor by saving Cress from her satellite, when things take a turn for the worst.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story; I didn’t like the second book very much, so I was worried that this may not be very good either, but it was a great story. Cinder has growing and understanding her powers, Iko is as charming as ever, and the rest of our cast, especially Thorne and Cress are all great characters. I even went back to “Fairest” because the end has the first couple of chapters from “Winter” and I just needed to hear them. Can’t wait until the Winter comes out on November 10, 2015!

Still going strong

Third in the series and no letdown yet. The merging of three princess stories into one is very interesting. Kind of reminds me of Sailor Moon.

Another great installment in the lunar series

I loved this book as much as the first two. I finished all three in less than a week. My only disappointment is that I'll have to wait another year for the next one!

not the best one in the series but still ok.

I struggled finishing this one only because the choices the characters make are, let's just say, less than intelligent. There are other things but listing them would give spoilers. Still an enjoyable listen just not the best one in the serious. Just the most aggravating.

A building story

A strong story that continues to grow with an expanding cast. I love how the author introduces new characters that are already woven into the story, just did not know it (yet). The love story aspects still get in the way for me at times, but the storytelling and world building is worth some sappiness.

excellent story!

I have to say, I was surprised by this whole series. A post WW3 cyborg Sci fi type series based off fairy tales??? nonsense. But it works and it works well. It is fun to read these and notice the subtle hints at the original fairy-tale. Nothing is ever on the nose. in this book we meet Cress, aka Rapunzel. She is alone in her Satellite where she has been held captive for 7 years before being rescued by her dashing prince...I mean...well without giving too much away, he is not so dashing. The characters are all really well developed, I am attached to them all and am rooting either for or against them all. Like the last book, all the character eventually have some sort of connection and there are plenty of twists and turns about that. The performance is excellent as well. Highly recommend. looking forward to the next one!

A fantastic continuation

This is a great book that I didn’t want to stop listening to. I only rated the performance a four star because there were a few misspoken words-typos you could say-and places where there should have been a pause between scene breaks. Otherwise Rebecca Soler’s performance was as wonderful and entrancing as ever.
