About this listen

"Rebecca Soler brings this YA adaptation of Rumpelstiltskin to life. . . This audiobook demands to be binged, so listeners should block out some time once they hit play."—AudioFile Magazine

In Gilded, #1 New York Times-bestselling author Marissa Meyer returns to the fairytale world with this haunting tale.

Long ago cursed by the god of lies, a poor miller's daughter has developed a talent for spinning stories that are fantastical and spellbinding and entirely untrue.

Or so everyone believes.

When one of Serilda's outlandish tales draws the attention of the sinister Erlking and his undead hunters, she finds herself swept away into a grim world where ghouls and phantoms prowl the earth and hollow-eyed ravens track her every move. The king orders Serilda to complete the impossible task of spinning straw into gold, or be killed for telling falsehoods. In her desperation, Serilda unwittingly summons a mysterious boy to her aid. He agrees to help her… for a price. Love isn't meant to be part of the bargain.

Soon Serilda realizes that there is more than one secret hidden in the castle walls, including an ancient curse that must be broken if she hopes to end the tyranny of the king and his wild hunt forever.

Satisfying like everything else Marissa Meyer writes

A little darker than her previous books, but the story hooks you in like everything else she has written. Marissa is one of my favorite authors. I have listened to everything she has written- the audiobooks are the best because Rebecca’s performance is flawless as always.

When does the next book come out?!?

Amazing, as always

i first received this book when it came out as a gift but i had never been able to sit down and read it bc of time but it was amazing. Rebecca always does an amazing job narrating these stories and Marissa has always created such captivating and well thought out storylines.

Interesting Version of an age old fairy tale

Some reviewers hated this story, but I loved it. It is quite dark, be ready for an extremely evil villain. The main character has a lot of maturing to do and sadly she learns the hard way. She leaves absolute devastation in her path as she tries to outwit the villain. In the beginning our heroine is glib and over confident, not so by the end. There is a sequel coming out in November of 2022 that I'm excited to read.

Absolutely wonderful

I'm going to be honest, when I started listening to this book I was working so I was a bit distracted at the beginning and I'll need to listen again to catch everything that happened at the very beginning of the book. However, I loved the last 3/4 of the book, I thought it was wonderful. I also love Rebecca Soler's narration, I think she's a wonderful reader!

Slow to get into for me but then I really enjoyed

As usual Rebecca Soler did a wonderful job giving voice to the characters. Looking forward to listening to the next book. It took me a while to get into this story. It's dark and in ways complicated. Perhaps complex is a better word, because though the story centers on one central character the world she's in is rather layered and multi-dimensional (quite literally).

They’ve Done it Again!

My favorite author. My favorite reader. Again they have told a beautiful story. If you like twisted/reimagined fairytales, this is for you! The story draws you in both vividly described yet every description has a purpose. So much fun to get lost in Meyer’s stories! I cannot wait for the next one! (there will be a sequel… right?)

Started off rushed, but I was hooked by the end.

I had a hard time connecting to the characters at first. I felt the story was moving too quickly. But that changed somewhere in the middle. I'm waiting for the 2nd book now.

I wish I loved Rebecca Soler more...

The story was everything I had hoped it would be. I love how Marissa Meyer can stay true to the core of a fairy tale and fracture it in so many delicious ways. I cannot wait to find out what happens, but I do wish that it had a different narrator :-(
