Meh...

This book was perfectly OK if you're looking for a mindless summer beach read, but there are much better mystery series out there. The characters were flat and cliched. The editing could've been better, too. At times, the chapters were spliced so closely together that I thought I'd accidentally bought an abridged version. It was often very choppy, with poor flow. Also, considering that the setting of this book is in and around Edinburgh, I thought it strange that only the characters belonging to the "lower classes" spoke with a Scottish accent, whereas all the professionals (police, lawyers, doctors, etc) had a British one. Odd, and perhaps a bit insulting. I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the books in this series.

Exciting new author

This is a great mystery and I thought this production was grade A+ - the story was compelling and the narrator was able to distinguish the various characters, though minding the British accent. But the real star of this is the story itself - a gruesome serial killer in Edinburgh but there is a connection and that's the crux of the mystery. If you like British mysteries I would urge you to give this a try and I do hope that Audible picks up the next title in the series to be published in 2008.

Good, would like more police personal information

The murder mysteries were very good and everything tied up nicely, but I would have liked to see more police personal development. There's a little bit, but it's still lacking. There's only a little bit of interaction between Rice and her partner. I would like to see a little bit more about what makes Rice tick and why she is the way she is. I think that Galbraith, just touches the surface.

I thought the narrator did a very good job with the various accents. I listen to mostly British, Irish, Scottish and Australian narrators and I like when they can easily switch between various accents and I think Ms. Neville did a good job.

This is a fairly short murder mystery so if you looking for something fairly short with a good murder mystery, but not a lot of other "stuff" this might be the book for you.

Long and boring

This book is horribly boring. The only reason I finished it was because I had nothing else to listen to.
