About this listen

Criminologist Martin Knight lives a gilded life and is a thorn in the side of the police. But then his wife, Liz, goes missing. There is no good explanation and no sign of Martin.... To make things worse, Liz is the ex-girlfriend of DCI Craig Gillard, who is drawn into the investigation.

Is it just a missing person or something worse? And what relevance do the events around the shocking Girl F case, so taken up by Knight, have to do with the present? The truth is darker than you could ever have imagined.

Exceptional

I listen to many British police procedurals and this is one of the best. From the research to the narration, you won’t be disappointed.

Excellent Police Procedural/Mystery

I read dozens of mysteries a year, and this is one of the best I have read in years. The characters are well fleshed out and compelling. The plot is a superb whodoneit. And the narrator is perfect.

Nicely done

This book was very well written and researched, I would recommend this book to anyone who really enjoys the mystery genre. I rated it at four because it deserved it for probably a 4 1/2 or five even.

Engrossing police procedural

Although the ending was easy to predict, and the investigation moved slowly, I found this book very engrossing. I have listened to many police procedurals, and I found this one to be among the best.

I also thought the narrator’s performance was excellent except for Natalie Krugman’s American accent, which was horrific - like nails on a chalkboard.

Riveting

Throughly enjoyed this book, great detective work and what a villain/murderer. Never saw that coming kept me listening all day, will look forward other books by the author. Narration was great at times I thought of Michael Caine as the voice was very similar in spots.

Better Than Average

First, the title is not really what the story is about.
That discovery is only a tiny part of the whole. Maybe “A Woman Scorned” or “Revenge is Best Served Cold” would be more suitable.
Actually, I guessed the ending less than 1/4 of the way through.
Not sure a mature man would still carry a torch for a school crush into adulthood like the hero, but it drives the plot.
Okay story, better than most and interesting to listen to. The narrator is quite good with a variety of nationalities, as well as male and female parts.
I wouldn’t mind checking out other books by author.
