About this listen

She’s my employee. I’m her boss’ boss. Hell, I own the company.

Pursuing Lillian Burkette was a line I shouldn’t cross. Until a work trip from hell changed everything.

I didn’t just step over the line. I annihilated the damn thing. When it comes to her, there’s nothing I wouldn’t do. I’d even kill for her.

When they say the corporate world is a jungle...they have no idea.

Jammed packed with action!

Although I really wish it was longer, this is a complete story filled with adventure, peril, and love. Blackburn is a strong alpha that has hidden skills that come in handy in a life and death crisis. Since he is Lillian's boss he has never expressed his attraction for her, in fact she thinks he dislikes her. Lillian is a strong and capable employee. When put in a crisis, she does what needs to be done. I love how Blackburn supports Lillian during a sorrowful time. Everyone needs a man like him in their life. The narrators do an outstanding job of portraying the emotions that the characters are experiencing and give them distinctive voices. They made the story flow smoothly and before I knew it, it had ended. I highly recommend this Audible book.

Love romantic suspense!!

There is nothing better than an action packed, romantic suspense novella. This is my first listen by Brynne Asher and it will not be my last. Gabe and Lillian are in Nicaragua for a meeting. Gabe is short and gruff, giving Lillian the feeling that he does not like her. Being her boss, she is focused on doing her job well and getting back to the states to see her grandmother. But danger lurks, and as things become desperate, this couple's true feelings begin to surface. Will they find their way home? Is their relationship going to be based on more than the needs during treacherous times? While Asher has written a novella, the story is well developed and complex. Gabe is that alpha male you want at your side in times of trouble. Lillian is extremely competent and strong, In the most dire of situations, she kept her composure. Their chemistry is combustible and the outcome is fantastic.

Narrated by the talented team of Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock, the time flew by. They brought this story to life so I could see it in my mind, experience the danger and the passion. I loved their performance and can't wait to hear more from them.

Good listen

This was a good book, overall. I was given complimentary copy in exchange for honest review. This book felt a bit rushed for me. It could have really used more development to make the overall book longer and more cohesive.

Loves grows in the jungle

This is a novella that is packed full of story. Gabe and Lilian are left to fend for themselves in the jungle of Nicaragua. Lilian works for Gabe's company but he isn't her direct supervisor but it seems he doesn't like her very much and she isn't really sure why. When they must depend on each other to survive feeling emerge that Gabe has been suppressing.

Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock were great narrating this book. Loved their voices.

I enjoyed listening to this book.

Blackburn is a Winner

Hopefully there will be a second book in this series. It’s wonderful to find a familiar character Tex! He helps the couple find their way home. I do wish there was a little more back story regarding Gab’s hand.
Loved this book and I’m disappointed not to find a new one in the series.

Blackburn

Getting kidnapped in the Nigeria jungle is definitely not cool. Thank goodness her bosses boss knows what to do and has friends to back him up. And all that pent up chemistry comes spilling out. Fun adventure and story. And the narration was fantastic! Aaron Shedlock made you feel like Blackburn was talking to you! Virginia Rose also did a wonderful job really bringing her character to life.

I was sure I had already reviewed this book it was on my list. Not sure what happened to it.

Not your typical office romance!

This ‘office romance’ actually started in the Nicaraguan jungle. Lillian is accompanying her boss’s boss...aka the owner of the company...on a sales trip to Nicaragua. There is no love lost between these two but things change when they are forced to rely on each other in the jungle. This is a quick and sweet story that wets your appetite for more from this new-to-me author. Fabulous job by the narration team.

I Want a Gabe of My Own

I loved this story when I read it I couldn't wait to listen to it. Both Virginia Rose and Aaron Shedlock are new narrators to me. I know I should have listened to Aaron Shedlock before because listeners sing his praises and now I know why. His voice is as smooth as fine Irish whiskey and capable of melting listeners' earphones. He give just the right gravel and swagger to Gabe and I will definitely be looking for more narrations by him. Virginia Rose is new to me and her narration fit the part of Lillian well and I can't wait to listen to more from her.
This is the first book I have read by Brynne Asher and it certainly won't be my last. Even though this is a novella, Ms. Asher does an excellent job developing her main characters and puts them through their paces both internationally and at home. The writing style is tight and this story moves quickly from the dangers of the Nicaraguan jungle to the predators in Lillian's family. There is a lot going on in this story: humor, great banter, danger, family drama, chemistry, and passion. My only complaint is I wanted more when the story was over. This was a book I reluctantly put down but could not wait to finish when I got home from work.
As the subtitle states, this is an unconventional office romance. Gabe owns the IT company Lillian works for, although he is not her direct supervisor. Traveling together in Central America negotiating contracts throws the main characters together, which definitely throws Gabe off his game. He's been trying to ignore her since she was hired and she thinks he hates her. Circumstances become dire and all hell breaks loose, and though their road to an HEA is dangerous in the jungle, that almost pales when Gabe meets her parents. I'm on to find another book by Brynne Asher because this one introduced me to a great new to me author.

Great Novella - Production Issue Though

Love this book and like others, wish it was longer - but this was intended to be a novella to go with the other books in the "kindle world" in which it was written, so I understand :). I do wish the audio would have been proofed better - it is missing Gabe's section of Chapter 14 in its entirety. But overall, I do recommend.
