About this listen

When you kick evil to the curb, it kicks you back.

What peace Helo had hoped for by defeating King on the Tempest is short-lived. Evil doesn’t go quietly, and it’s always hungry for revenge.

After his parents are murdered, Helo rejoins the Ash Angel Organization ready to hunt creatures of evil and obliterate the six remaining Dread Loremasters. But terrifying portents from Tela Mirren’s dreams and dire warnings from Aclima hint that crossing darkness incurs a terrible price, and Helo will be the one who pays.

Terrible production

Good story and narrator, but the production quality is terrible. The audio blanks out sometimes and you miss part of the story.

Can't wait for book 3

Great story and great reading by Bray, almost tempted to read the 3rd book just to see where this all goes but don't want to ruin the bray experience.

Man this does not disappoint! It was great from start to finish. Now I just have to wait for the next one.

Pretty darn good I recommend it despite its flaws

I got this series (Book 1 and 2 so far) because I loved Brian's work with the Trystmoon saga so much that I ended up listening to that one multiple times. This one just isn't on the same level. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad series it just feels just a touch too preachy. Even though you can tell that the author isn't writing with that in mind there's no really good way to write a book about angels and devils without going there. I guess knights and monsters are more my thing. ****spoiler alert**** This is your warning that there is a spoiler ahead. Helo's relationship with Tarissa just blows my mind and is the one thing that ruins the second book for me. He spends the whole first book agonizing over his ex wife because she cheated on him and he feels inadequate and it's his worst torch memory but now that's she's an ash angel it's all good? He learned to live with himself at the end of the last book and now it's all rainbows and puppies wherever she is concerned. *gag* Realism score 0. No one is that saintly. This is the one thing in the book that I couldn't stand.

Thrilling book, as interesting as the first

RC Bray was made for stories like this. I swear that he brings to life every character with perfection! There are some interesting twists and frankly the possibilities are limitless with the play on angels and daemons. There are only a few things that get a little tiresome throughout and that’s the unrelenting attraction that every female has to the main character, Helo. It’s not much a problem in general, but annoying when seemingly 25% of the book is about it. Overall, it’s a fun listen and has plenty of action to keep you engaged throughout.
