It’s 1984, and life has changed beyond recognition. Airstrip One, formerly known as Great Britain, is a place where Big Brother is always watching, and nobody can hide. Except, perhaps, for Winston Smith. Whilst working at the Ministry of Truth, rewriting history, he secretly dreams of freedom. Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
In the not-too-distant future, a 21-member crew launches from Earth. Their mission: to establish a temporary colony on Mars. Little do they know that colony will become permanent–and the last stand of the human race. Because, without warning, every single person left on Earth simply...vanishes. Now, a thousand years later, the resources needed to sustain life are running out, and the very existence of the Mars colony is threatened. Humankind has only one option–to return to its home planet.

In his first novel, The Reversion, Steven Smith took the modern post-apocalyptic genre to a new level of general fiction, introducing us to a world after a cataclysmic collapse and taking us into the lives of those who survive and begin to rebuild. In his second novel, The Revival, he once again broke a barrier into adventure fiction, mixing humor and intense action with social commentary, political philosophy and in-depth examinations of comparative justice and cultural constructs - all skillfully woven into a compelling story of personal and societal survival so as to be both powerful yet...

Writing the Stonemont series has been one of the most enjoyable and challenging things I have ever done. And for that I thank you, the reader. When I first started writing what became The Reversion, the first book in the series, I had no idea it would become a book. When it did become a book, I had no idea there would be a second book, and when I finished the second book, I had no idea it would become a series. And now, here we are. Jim Wyatt had always said that if everything fell apart, he didn’t want to just survive - he didn’t want to notice. When the world did crash, his family’s home of Stonemont became not only a refuge, but a place where it might be possible to start over again, and reclaim the American ideal. Among the many novels in the SHTF/TEOTWAWKI genre, The Reversion stands apart – and, perhaps, alone. It does not follow the survival learning curve of the unprepared or minimally-prepared, as so many excellent books have already done so well. Rather, it is the story of a man who was prepared, and ...

This is the omnibus edition that contains all stories from volumes 1-3. These tales explore what would really happen if the modern world collapsed, and take full account of the variables as they exist on the ground now, from ethnic and racial tensions to current government policies that seem to be designed to cause a split in the nation in the near future. What is the likeliest scenario for collapse? How would it really go down? How would regular Americans react. What about our diverse communities: racial minorities, immigrants, hipsters, drifters? This book tackles the issues from all ...

I've enjoyed all of the Stonemont Series
The Stonemont series is difficult to find on Audible. Only 3 of the series have a Stonemont Series link. Some are appearing under Steven Smith and Some are appearing under Steven C. Smith and the search seems to not know these are the same authors. Not knowing the name of the book but wanting to continue the Stonemont series, it was especially difficult to locate the title Appeal to Heaven. I had to go around and search the internet for more information so I could track it down. I think most people would give up after the first 3 titles not finding the 4th easily linked on Audible. It would be extremely useful to link these in order as other series on Audible are linked. Plus making sure that they all appear under Steven C Smith and Steven Smith as the same author of the Stonemont series.
Now about the book. This is an excellent tail of the rebirth of civilization after the collapse and the various hiccups anticipated and dealt with along the way.
The books are all wonderful but could be made more wonderful if they were more in-depth and longer. The main storyline is adequately covered about the 3 main male characters, but so many fingers branch off of the main story that could be cultivated into a more fulfilling adventure for the reader and although a few survival tips are interlaced within the story, these could be cultivated as well. I would love to see a second series emerge, a more in-depth series from this author. If these books were over 20 hours a piece I would enjoy every minute. That's not to say that each of these shorter books are not a book in its own right. I think the start and the finish of each of these books are in the right spot in the timeline for this dystopian series. I would just like them to be fuller & richer with information. Some of the characters introduced back in books one, two, and three peeked my interest and then nothing more was said about them. The books may be written short for the targeted audience of apocalyptic tales being young males. I being neither young nor male think this is an epic adventure that could be cultivated.
Thank you so much for writing this marvelous series and I look forward to many more books from Steven C Smith. I would also like to thank the author for not throwing in sexual and inappropriate content here and there, (like so many books of this genre), that I would be embarrassed to have someone overhear while I'm listening.
