About this listen

First published in 1865, Lewis Carroll's endearing tales of an imaginative child's dream world are written with charming simplicity.

While delighting children with a heroine who represents their own thoughts and feelings about growing up, the tale is appreciated by adults as a gentle satire on education, politics, literature, and Victorian life in general.

All the delightful and bizarre inhabitants of Wonderland are here: the White Rabbit and the Cheshire Cat, the hooka-smoking Caterpillar and the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the Ugly Duchess... and, of course, Alice herself - growing alternately taller and smaller, attending demented tea parties and eccentric croquet games, and observing everything with clarity and rational amazement.

These novels are part of Brilliance Audio's extensive Classic Collection, bringing you timeless masterpieces that you and your family are sure to love.

Excellent rendition

The only thing I’m upset about is that there are no six stars to give for this book. A very lively, inspiring and witty performance of a well known classic. Thank you very, very much!

I can say I read it.

I'm late to this party. This is the first time I've ever read Lewis Carroll. I've seen all the cartoon and tv adaptations, but the original hasn't been on my list until recently. This isn't really a kids book. My expectations are tainted, of course, but I was underwhelmed. Tick the box and call it done.

Silly but entertaining.

I have listened to these stories over and over again and I hear something new every time.
I always enjoy the silly things that happen and the funny things that are said.

my childhood

this is one of my favorite stories from my childhood and I still love it! I had never read "through the looking glass" so I'm glad it was included in this audible.

Classic stories, Excellent Narration!

What is there to say about the story? Of course, it's a classic of fanciful adventures that remains unchanged. The narrator here was excellent, bringing the voices and characters to life with ease. Very enjoyable performance.

A little trip through backwards land

It was interesting to hear the original story that inspired the Disney version I was familiar with. Both the adventures in wonderland and through the looking glass get spliced together. I’m not sure if they chose the best stories of each or if it’s my bias towards them for being familiar, but some of the other stories really dragged on too long especially with the actor singing.
There’s also a background noise of other people talking. At first I thought it was just ambiance because of the crazy world, but I think it’s just a poorly insulated studio and other people were recording in the background.
Overall decent story telling, but not amazing. There were times I laughed, and some it felt like not my humor and dragged.
