Native American Historical Fiction

Before my family lived in this house, a different family did, and before them, another family, and another before them. And before that, the family lived here, not in a house, but a wigwam. Who lived where you are before you got there? This Land teaches listeners that American land, from our backyards to our schools to Disney World, are the traditional homelands of many Indigenous nations. This Land will spark curiosity and encourage readers to explore the history of the places they live and the people who have lived there throughout time and today.

Mi Sangre: Part I is a historical novel of people and a family struggling through life in late 19th- and early 20th-century Mexico and South Texas. Most of what you will listen to are actual events told with a certain degree of liberty in the details. In essence, it is historical fiction. Nevertheless, most of the stories are true events passed down in the oral tradition of Native Americans.

Considered one of Zane Grey's best novels, The Vanishing American was originally published in serialized form in the Ladies Home Journal in 1922. It reveals Grey's empathy for the Native American and his deep concern for the future survival of that culture.
