    Hi there!

When it comes to live video, choosing the right platform

is one of the easiest ways to set yourself up for success.

In fact, it's one of the most important first-steps to

positioning yourself in a way where your videos will gain

    the most traction.

Different platforms are suited for different types of

content, so you want to make sure you’re choosing the one

that makes the most sense for your business.

In today’s email, we’ll walk you through the major social

media platforms with live video capabilities.

    First up,

    Facebook:

Live video on Facebook is great because of the number of

people who use Facebook on a regular basis.

In other words, chances are that if your business caters

to a 30+ year-old demographic, your audience is already

    there.

Furthermore, there are lots of ways to be discovered. In

fact, people can find your live video from all of the

    following:

    * The top of their feed with other stories.

    * Within their feed directly from you.

    * Within their feed, because their friend interacted with

    your live video.

    * Searching for your account.

On Facebook, you can go live from either your phone or your

    computer.

We recommend starting with your phone (unless your computer’s

webcam is better than your phone’s selfie camera).

During your live, you’ll see viewers’ comments in real time.

In the live comments, you can also respond, react, or moderate

    the comments section.

Once you end the live video, you can turn it into a regular

video on your page so that everyone can watch it.

Alternatively, you can share it to your story so that it’s

    only available for 24 hours.

    Instagram:

If you’re catering to a younger demographic than Facebook,

    Instagram is a solid choice.

On Instagram, live videos are displayed before regular stories

in the stories tab. This means that live videos are the first

thing on a user’s screen when they launch Instagram, making you

    highly discoverable.

Your profile picture on your account will also indicate

whether you’re live or not, so users who don’t follow you

    can also watch your live.

Like Facebook, you can see and interact with comments in real

    time.

And once you end the video, you can share it in your story.

    YouTube:

YouTube is different from other social media platforms because

it works like a mix of a search engine and a recommendation

    algorithm.

This makes it easier for you to get your content in front of lots

    of different people.

To host a live video on Youtube, you need to verify your channel

(this is not the same as getting a verified badge) and have at

    least 1,000 followers.

Once you meet these requirements, you can start streaming live

    videos in 24 hours!

YouTube lets you stream vertically or horizontally. Vertical

live streams are good for creating a casual atmosphere with

    less planning.

Horizontal live streams work well for more formal topics or

live videos with two or more hosts.

That’s all for today. I'll email you again soon with details

on the best gear for creating outstanding live video content.

    Hi there!

Welcome to the first of several emails about live

    video marketing.

Throughout this series, we’re going to dive into

live video marketing so that you can implement it

in your own business to maximize outreach and

    cultivate a loyal following.

Video and live video are popular for a good reason!

They’re more engaging than any other media format,

and you can produce them almost entirely from your

    smartphone.

So it's no surprise that so many new and seasoned

business owners have begun to implement live video

    into their marketing campaigns.

That being said, live video can seem daunting if

    you’ve never done it before.

No worries, over the next while, you'll receive emails

from me that will show you everything you need to know

    to get started.

I'll bring it all down into easy, manageable steps so

that even if you've never done this before, you'll

completely understand what it takes to hit the ground

    running.

Then in no time, you’ll be ready to take advantage

of this incredible opportunity to reach new audiences

and better connect with the following you may already

    have!

But if you’re still unsure whether live video is

beneficial to your business, we’ll let the following

    numbers speak for themselves:

    >> The average American adult watches 6 hours of video

    every single day!

    >> 80% of audiences would rather watch a live video

than read a blog post! (Regardless of how engaging the

    text-based content is.)

    >> Users watch live video 10 to 20 times longer than

most other forms of on-demand content!

    Give that some thought.

    Hello,

After going over the report and reading my YouTube

In-Stream Ad series, we can honestly point out that

basically the most effective ad type is the

In-Stream type, however this may not always

    be the case.

It does on average have the lowest price points

    and the highest ROI...

However, because it gives the video viewer the

option to skip the ad before the 30 second point,

you may end up with uncompleted views.

And that is not a real big issue since you don’t have

to pay for views until they’ve reached 30 seconds

(or the completed ad) but you want your ad campaign

    to be effective.

So, I wanted to mention that you should carefully

    test and track your results.

Be sure you have a way to track exactly where all

of your clicks came from and whether those clicks

    converted into leads or sales.

Ultimately, this is the best way to choose which

ad format is right for your niche.

Otherwise, you’ll just be flying blind, and you’ll

have to guess which format is working best.

I use LandingPageMonkey to help track my leads

because it makes creating split tests on my

    sqeeze pages so easy.

    Check it out here:

    www.landingpagemonkey.com

Instream ads are a solid economical way to get

traffic to you offers but if your landing page

is not converting well then all the traffic in

the world will not make you a dime.

So, track, split test and tweak!

    Enjoy!

    Hi,

When you’re looking for videos, try to

    find videos that:

•Have a decent number of views

•Have at least a few comments,

    mostly positive

    •Have more likes than dislikes

You want to pick videos that people are

    actually watching and liking, because

you’ll know those people are interested

in the topic and that people are

    responding positively to the video.

One thing to keep in mind is that you won’t

be able to target every video out there.

Some people do not allow ads on their videos,

and you can choose to do the same thing

    if you prefer.

All you have to do to check if a video can

accept an ad is to click the video and see

    if an ad plays.

If so, it’s open for monetization and you can

target it with an ad. If there’s no ad, you

can still paste it into your placement

targeting to see if it’s available.

The system will alert you if it isn’t.

Having trouble finding videos or channels

    to target?

Just search for a keyword and look for people

    sharing content on that keyword.

Alternatively, you can go to a channel you

know is within your niche and look on the

right side for “More channels to check out!”

This section will show you other channels

related to the one you’re currently viewing.

    Enjoy!

    Hello,

Welcome to Day Five of my YouTube

    In-Stream Ad series!

Today is the biggest day, because

you’re going to learn how you can

    legally steal traffic directly from

    your competitors.

This is very powerful stuff, because

if you really keep an eye on your

competitors, you can figure out which

ones have the most successful videos

in terms of views, comments, likes,

    shares, etc.

    You can actually target specific

    videos or channels with placement

ads, allowing you to place YOUR ads

on the videos of your competitors.

Yes, you can actually run YOUR videos

as ads before the videos of your biggest

    competitors!

A lot of people don’t even think about how

powerful this can be, and they don’t

    even try it.

But done correctly, this can be

    insanely profitable.

Here’s how easy it is to target specific

videos or channels. Find your ad group

    in AdWords.

    Then do the following:

1.Click Video targeting, and then click

    Placements.

2.Choose an ad group from the drop

    down menu.

    3.Click +PLACEMENTS on the Managed

    sub-tab.

4.Add URLs for the videos or channels

    you want to target.

    5.Click Add.

It’s that simple! This will let you advertise

your own stuff directly on the videos and

channels of your competitors, stealing their

traffic right out from under their noses.

And there’s nothing underhanded in doing this.

After all, they could do the same to you

    if they wanted to.

    Enjoy!

Welcome to Day Four of my YouTube

    In-Stream Ad series!

Yesterday we looked at the different

types of videos you can create and

some tools you can use to make them.

Today we will be looking at the different

ways you can target viewers on YouTube.

There are a few different options you can

use to target viewers with in-stream ads.

We will take a look at each one so that you

can decide which ones you’d like to focus on,

or you could test all of them to find out

which ones work best for you.

Targeting by keyword is generally a great

tactic, because you can choose keywords

that really fit with your video and whatever

    you’re promoting.

If you use this method, one thing you must

keep in mind is that you need to be careful

    about the keywords you use.

Think about this. If you are trying to build

a list of people who are into cooking and you

have a recipe for cranberry sauce, you’d

probably be fine using the keyword phrase

“cranberry sauce recipe”, but it might not be

a good idea to target the keyword “cranberries”.

Why? Because there’s a famous band called The

Cranberries, and people searching for this word

just might be searching for the band, instead!

This is just one example of why it’s important to

be very specific with the keywords you choose.

Make sure you’re targeting keywords because they

fit your niche well and not because they might

    get more views.

You can also target by interest or topic.

This can be effective for getting a lot of views,

but keep in mind that most topics will be quite

broad and won’t necessarily fit perfectly with

    your market.

Let’s say you’re targeting people interested in

miniature golf. You probably wouldn’t want to

target the interest of golf, because although

the two are similar in terms of the game itself,

most golfers probably would not be interested

    in miniature golf.

It would just be a waste.

If you cannot find a topic/interest that fits

your market perfectly, do not use this method.

Don’t forget to look for our fifth in the

    in-stream ads series, because tomorrow

you’re going to find out how to legally

    steal traffic from your competitors!

In fact, this is the third method of targeting,

and potentially one of the most important

    and valuable.

You’ll find out how to target people who are

proven to have an interest in whatever you’re

trying to promote, and a very sneaky method

you can use to steal traffic directly

    from your competition!

    See you tomorrow!

Welcome to Day Three of my YouTube

    In-Stream Ad series!

Yesterday we looked at ways you can

    potentially increase conversions on

    your YouTube video ads.

Today we are going to take a look at

some of the different types of videos

you can create, and the tolls you can

    use to create them.

First of all, you need to be sure you

are creating the type of video the

    average viewer in your market

    expects to see.

If you’re approaching a very serious

    subject, using comedy probably wouldn’t

    be the best method.

If you’re marketing to older folks, trying

to appeal to them with dirty humor

    might backfire.

Always think about your market first.

You can also study the videos being added

    by your competition.

    Don’t outright steal anything, obviously.

Just take note of what types of videos they

are using and what the typical response

    is to those videos.

Next, figure out which type of video you’d

    like to start with.

    -----------------------------------------

Here are a few different types of videos

    you might consider creating:

    • Talking head videos

    • Screencasts

    • Cartoon videos

    • Presentation videos

    ----------------------------------------

Talking head videos are the standard type of

video that shows an individual looking at the

camera and talking about the subject.

While there may be other elements within the

video, the individual is the primary focus.

Talking head videos work for just about any

    market or subject.

You can take the video with any quality camera,

but it’s a good idea to use professional

lighting and a good quality microphone.

Then you can add effects in your favorite movie

software such as Windows Movie Maker or iMovie.

Screencasts are great for presenting anything that

has to do with computers and the internet.

You could record yourself showing viewers how to

use a particular website or software package,

    for example, using screencasting software

    such as Camtasia.

Cartoon videos don’t necessarily have to be

funny, so they can work for just

    about any market.

The upside to using cartoon videos instead of

a talking head video is that if you’re shy

about being on camera, you won’t have to be.

    Presentation videos are basically slideshows

that you can create in PowerPoint or just

create the slides in Photoshop or another

graphics program and put them all together

in something like Windows Movie Maker

    or iMovie.

If you’re just not into the idea of making

your own videos, Fiverr is a great option.

You’ll find a large number of providers who

can make different types of video

    very affordably!

Be sure to look for tomorrow’s lesson.

We’re going to be looking at the best ways

to target your videos to the right audience.

    See you then!

Welcome to Day Two of my YouTube In-Stream Ad series!

Today we’re going to take a look at some ways you can

boost your conversions with in-stream ads on YouTube.

The first thing you’ll want to do is make sure your

landing page has a conversion pixel on it.

The conversion pixel is basically an invisible image

that is pulled whenever someone loads your landing

page and thank you page. It helps you track how much

traffic is making it to your landing page, and how

much of that traffic is then going on

    to the thank you page.

This lets you know what your conversion rate is.

I can’t give you a specific conversion rate goal,

because this can vary significantly between market,

what type of offer you’re promoting,

    and other factors.

All I can say is that it’s important to track your

conversions and the make tweaks to your video ad,

landing page and campaigns in order to get

    the best results.

Once you’re getting data from your conversion pixel,

it’s time to start tweaking various things.

The first thing, and the most obvious thing, to take

a look at is your video ad. Is it receiving good

    feedback from YouTube viewers?

Is it getting more thumbs up or thumbs down?

    Is it getting any comments?

If you don’t have any data on the video itself, you

can always make a second video and set it up as a

different ad within your campaign in order to test

    the two against each other.

It’s a good idea to make no other changes during this

testing period so you can be certain it’s the video

that is having an effect on conversions and not

    something else you’re testing.

Once you’ve had a few hundred clicks to your landing

page (at minimum), you should have a pretty good idea

how well each video is going to convert.

Then you can keep the one that converts best and move

    on to tweak other elements.

Next, you should make changes to your landing page.

Try changing different elements such as the landing

page’s layout, color scheme, headline, and format.

Finally, consider testing various elements of the ad

campaign itself, such as the keywords and/or topics

you’re targeting or the individual videos

    you’re targeting.

Never assume that a particular keyword phrase or video

will be perfect for your audience.

You never know what factors might be at play that could

potentially make a different to conversions.

This is why it’s so important to test various elements.

Even if you think you’re getting good results, you never

know if you could drastically improve them just with

    a minor tweak or two.

Tomorrow, we’re going to take a look at different types

of videos you can create, the tools you can use to

create them, and how you can get videos made for you

very inexpensively if you’d rather not learn

    to make them yourself.
