  • #125: Book Review -Therapy is not the Enemy with Lady Stephanie Clegg
    Jul 7 2025

On today's podcast episode, Dr. Cheryl Hardy shares with us a conversation she had with Lady Stephanie Clegg. They discuss Therapy is not the Enemy, a fiction book all about mental illness with the Carlton Family.

So many times in the church, we struggle with understanding the importance of how the children feel being related to the pastor, for it is not easy. When the parent is trying to raise their children and the congregation is watching, it may be challenging for them. Having Lady Stephanie Clegg as our guest was a great opportunity to talk about faith and mental health in the family. Having a counselor helps bring great points about mental health, so we can embrace and live well.

We had a great conversation about the Carlton family with Rev. Carlton working a full-time job and pastoring.

His wife Aquila was overwhelmed being a mother of 10 children, and each child struggled with some form of mental health concerns, from attention deficit disorder to schizophrenia.

Therapy is not the Enemy is a must-read.

  • #123: Grief is a Real Journey - It's Okay
    Jun 23 2025

On today's podcast episode, Dr. Cheryl Hardy talks about grief. Grief is an emotion that everyone will face in this beautiful journey of life.

It’s okay to allow yourself to feel the grief and let it flow through your body as you process and deal with the feeling.

We suffer from so many different types of loss, and how we manage our emotions and monitor them is important.

So many people run from grief and sadness while living in denial, as the delayed grief races through their mind and body.

Allow yourself to feel the loss of opportunity, the loss of a job, the loss of partnerships, and the loss of marriage, and yes, it can happen to anyone. As you face the sadness of life, take the time to caress and nurture the grief as you learn that grief is normal, grief is real, and it's a lifetime journey.

Today, choose to embrace the loss and nurture the feelings. It's okay not to be ok. Believe that God will make it work for you.

    Psalm 31: 9

Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted from grief; my soul and my body also.

  • #122: Yes Indeed, Your Feelings Matter
    Jun 16 2025

On today's podcast episode, Dr. Cheryl Hardy discusses feelings. Your feelings matter. They should be considered and not dismissed in a relationship.

How you deal, feel, and heal is a part of life.

Of course, we should be mindful of our feelings in different settings.

Controlling your feelings during a business or family meeting shows a coping skills technique. It is very important to increase your reflective listening skills in those settings.

There are many times when your feelings are not telling you the truth and will lead you in and out of sync. There are situations and other times that your feelings are on point and telling you to be careful and use wisdom.

Your feelings matter, and we can have several types of feelings in one day. You can be happy you woke up this morning, sad that you have to go to work, excited about pay day, and frustrated by a comment a co-worker made.

There are tools you can use, including journaling your emotions to process your feelings and self-talk.

Make sure you are kind to yourself and nurture your feelings.

Psalm 62:8 (NIV) - "Trust in him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge."
