  • Triumph and Heartbreak on Old Route 66 | #18
    Apr 25 2025

After two and a half years of planning and preparation for transitioning to full time life on the road, we knew that our first few weeks would be memorable, but nothing prepared us for how those first few weeks turned out. Join me as I share the story of the most hilarious, chaotic and magical first two weeks on the road. Starting in Pheonix, AZ we race across the American West as temperatures rise well into the 100s… with no air conditioning… in a van built in the mid 80’s. What could possibly go wrong as we take our friend from Germany on a “classic America road trip”?! Though the trip was filled with misadventures, it was also filled with lessons that we carry with us to this day.

    Things mentioned in the episode:

~ Tour of our van (a real blast from the past).

  • A Conversation with Discomfort | #17
    Apr 11 2025

What happens when you decide to step away from other people’s expectations of you? Well, you learn that you actually need to get around your own expectations for yourself. Today, we talk to Shruthi who’s a fulltime traveler, hiker and runner… but she didn’t used to be any of those things. Growing up in a South Indian family in the US meant that all the things that she’s come to love later in her life, such as the great outdoors, went against her families ideas of gender norms. Her time on the road helped her realize a deep love for hiking which taught her just how strong she is, that she can trust herself and what can be learned from having regular conversations with discomfort. Join us on a deep dive into how much our own expectations of what we are and aren’t capable of are holding us back.

Connect with Shruthi on the internet via Instagram and her website.

Have you ever looked at a plate of food in front of you and thought about all the history you could learn just by seeing the cultural influences? Well, I didn’t either until I met Linhbergh five years ago. In today’s episode of Camp Nowhere, we sit down to record a live conversation from the Dometic booth at the SoCal Overland Expo show. We talk over his learning to love cooking through necessity, rediscovering his Vietnamese roots through cooking and how we’s rediscovered a deep love for history through food. After our chat we dive straight into a live demo where Linhbergh takes us through how to make Vietnamese Coffee Coconut Creme Tiramisu. The recipe is so simple it can even be made from camp!

  • The Art of Observation | #13
    Feb 14 2025

We dive into a chat with Chase Bartee a filmmaker, scientific illustrator and multifaceted storyteller to discuss the value of observing the natural world. Both Chase and I had ideations of growing up to be scientist or biologists of some kind but ultimately pursued art in our college level educations. Over the years we’ve both come back to a deep love of observing and learning about the natural world. We discuss the depth of understanding and learning that naturally comes of observation. How our work is influenced by what we’ve learned from years spent in the outdoors. And how we use story telling to educate and help others fall in love with the natural world.
