Acerca de esta escucha
Welcome to Camp Cartwright! Mookie Hooper arrives at sleepaway camp and quashes any hope of being cool or accepted. Her bunkmates tell her about the legend of the Lady of the Lake; as if wearing a bathing suit in front of everyone isn’t hard enough! An aspiring reporter trying to follow in her famous mother’s footsteps, Mookie begins an investigation. But Director Sue insists that Mookie “stop terrifying the other campers” and “just have fun.” The talent show may provide the perfect distraction…

Really fun!!
Can’t wait for the next installment! I’m rooting for Mookie! I agree with a past review that it is reminiscent of Nancy Drew. Love it!

A delightful summer camp listen!
As expected from an Audible Original, this is another quality drama podcast that I enjoyed both the performance and the story. I have no doubt this will be a great all-star audio drama based on the cast. I enjoyed it very much that when I woke up in the middle of the night I listened to it for two hours and had to force myself to go back to sleep. Definitely one that I would put under my Relisten category.
As the title would suggest, the story is told by Mookie (pronounced as cookie) writing letters every week to someone named Kelly, while she's in camp. I never knew who Kelly was to Mookie from the entirety of the podcast series. It started with Mookie and her mom waiting for the bus ride to arrive and take her to an 8-week summer camp in a place called Camp Cartwright in Maine. Director Sue (played by Jamie Lee Curtis) officially welcomed Mookie and introduced her to her Acorn bunkmate Jenna L. Mookie did not receive a warm welcome. She knew from the beginning that it will be a long six hour bus drive before they reach their destination.
Mookie's character is what I love most about this podcast. I somehow see myself in her during my preteen years. Trying my best to fit in but also wanting to be accepted for who I am. Mookie is not your typical 11-year-old. She is precocious, more advanced for her age, more curious, eloquent, has tangible goals in life—special. Because of that, she is often misunderstood by her peers like she is speaking to them in a foreign language. Nevertheless, the program was able to keep Mookie's 11-year-old self as she tried to make friends and act as best as she could to be a regular camper.
The timeliness of its release is perfect before summer ends to give kids a camping experience as COVID-19 has put a stop to summer camping this year. Great listen for both children and adults, as a family, or if you are just like me, who likes an entertaining camping story (with mystery) told in an epistolary fashion.

You don’t have to eat the whole apple to know it’s rotten.
Too cute for a 75 year old man. It lost me after about twenty minutes. Glad it was free.

Charming and funny!
This story brought be back to my day’s at summer camp! It is so relatable and fun that you just wish you were there! Sunny Sandler is charming and funny and nails her role spot on! Would recommend to young teens and anyone who wants to be brought back to childhood!

Geared for children, and very well crafted.
This work reminded me of radio dramas from the time before television. Growing up I always had a tv, but for the first four years of my life, I only listened to records. I enjoyed listening to the same 'Star Trec' record over and over. It is a great idea to engage children or anyone to form ideas from strictly auditory means vs. overstimulation of a strictly visual medium. When you hear the actors perform, you can assign any face you like with the characters present in the story. Sometimes the newest thing one can do is something very, very old. The concept has traction for me. I would be curious to see what parts of the brain are active while listening to a story vs. watching a story. Very cool! I still have to listen to the second part, but the first part is in the can. No "Second-Hand News" here.

Light hearted and fun
Reminded me of my junior high days at Camp Kirby and the special times that I had there.

Could you not have got an Australian to voice the Australian part?
Thanks guys but I’m out. Can’t listen to that bizarre New Zealand/British/American hybrid accent. :D

Charming and light
This is a sweet little series, stories from camp that reminded me of the socially awkward way we all deal with new experiences as a child and as an adult. This series is amusing and delightful in these grim Covid days.

Sweet and age appropriate
The story really reflects the complicated and ever-changing nature of middle-school aged children, and especially girls. Entertaining too!
