Uninteresting and poorly read

This is my first virtual voice book. It’s as bad as I anticipated. I can’t even care about the story.

If the story was good, I might make more of an effort to stick with it.

I’m giving up after the first 90 minutes.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I’ve listened to over 800 audiobooks in the last 6 years and only written three reviews. This is the fourth.

First off, Sean Runette is my favorite narrator.

As for the series, all my senses were engaged by the writers’s descriptions of settings and circumstances. For a while I thought it would make a great tv series until I realized things like smells can’t be conveyed as well visually.

I stopped trying to guess how a particular situation, large or small, would turn out because time after time I so many things were telegraphed that guesses were impossible.

I was so gripped that I listened to the whole series in less than two weeks.

I’ll start the next series two days from now. I need a cool down period.

Character voices

I like this series a lot. My only criticism is that the character voices aren’t dissimilar enough.

The s is silent in debris

There was a distracting amount of mispronunciation. And the character voices were awful. The writing wasn’t great but the premise was decent.

The production is dreadful

The poor production was annoying. The cuts and edits were anything but seamless. It sounded like several different mics were used in several different rooms.

I’ve listened to hundreds of audiobooks and never heard volume and sound quality changes or breathing. There were two places there twenty seconds was repeated.

As for the narration. It was fine.

As for the writing. I like having my vocabulary stretched, but words like ensorcelled sound like the narrator is saying encircled incorrectly.
