Pointless
Revisado: 04-22-25
A lot of complaints about the evilness of AI, but no one is doing anything about it except complaining, protesting and demanding others to do something. Some people complain about the trauma and hardship of working for AI companies, and they complain and protest and again not being proactive to change their situations which were the choices they made. The victimhood mentality made them unlikable and insufferable. Get a different job or learn new skills and stop feeling sorry for yourselves and think beyond yourselves. Complaining without any attempt to resolve your issues are huge turn off to other people and they will definitely not help you.

Very well done
Revisado: 04-21-25
This book is well written and organized. The narrator’s voice is pleasant and engaging. The author emphasizes that much of the info came from correlation studies and not cause and effect and I appreciate the honesty. The topics are interesting and informative. This is one of rare books I actually learned a lot of new info and changed the way I see gut biom. You need some basic knowledge or high school level human biology to understand. Overall this is one of few books that’s worth the time to read/listen.

hypocritical opinions with political/social bias
Revisado: 03-17-25
the last 1.5 hours of the audiobook was mostly his opinions, after he criticized others for opinion based policies. He also discredited many studies because they didn’t support his opinions, agree with how doctors' ego, arrogance, self interest and politics have killed or harmed many patients. and this is still true today! But the few examples in this book are only associated with one sided political administrations. Clearly they are cherry picked based on the author's political leaning. There are many more blind spots in medicine associated with all administrations!!! how did he missed the many needless deaths of young covid patients in 2020 due to not giving the correct treatment to the young patients to suppress their immune system which killed them. why was there No mention of some docs trying to treat covid with hydroxychoriquin in 2020 based on misinformation? and how did he become an expert on transgender issues based on just couple foreign studies and didn’t mention any of many more comprehensive American studies? he was up for a position in trump administration but did not get it.
Also he voiced his negative opinions about lowering age for mammogram and said there is no supporting studies to back it up!!! What happened to assuring low risk patients? and his opinions about spam like food given to native americans caused obesity but gave no supporting studies!!! there are many opinions in this book based on cherry picked studies and examples. he criticized others for policies based opinions and yet he made many points based on his own opinions!
there is no mention of even bigger issues such as despicable insurance policies and the extreme high prices of drugs and medical care. i can understand that's not the focus of this book, but they are very serious issues not being addressed at all.
I am in completely disagreement with the author on his optimism of the new generations of doctors. the author clearly has no real life clinical experience working with young docs. most of the new docs are unprepared and unenthusiastic about their responsibilities and expect the senior docs to hold their hands permanently. they focus more on themselves instead of patients compared to the older docs. most medical specialty boards have lowered their standards by passing well over 90% of young docs compare to just over 50% in the past. resident docs today are more concerned about their own work life balance and learning has become secondary, and they cannot function without computers or AI and often no common sense. several specialty training boards have BANNED quizzing resident docs in front of patients because it would hurt their feelings and affect their mental health if they didn't know the answer!!! not just the young docs, the young medical staff are also behaving similarly.in addition, the type of people who would pursue policy making positions are not the successful docs nor are they the caring types. the system is broken beyond repair and needs complete overhaul.
the only optimism i have is that someday AI will not just assist but do much thinking for the docs.

there is no reason this is such a long audiobook as it is a very long winded and repetitive book about passive investment in index fund. the recommendation is good for vast majority of investors, but much of the book was just repetitive with similar examples to support the idea. an hour of this audiobook is more than adequate to cover the topic.

Brad Koteshwar, the author of The Perfect Speculator, first came to be known for his report on a phenomenal 7000% price run in 52 weeks by Taser International's stock. When he released that report he had written for his clients as a fiction and looked for publicity in the local Arizona media, he was rebuffed as the who's who in the small but affluent communities of Arizona were all owners of Taser stocks. None of them wanted to believe that the stock price on Taser had topped out in April 2004. In this book, Brad Koteshwar continues the simple lessons of the stock market in a teacher and ...

Invest based on trends?
Revisado: 01-25-25
No specific useful info but mostly on predicting trends based on the past trends. Things and people change with time, and the past is not a good predictor for the future especially there are new techs and knowledge that didn’t exist in the past.

Historia
The knowledge of death is so terrifying that we live most of our lives in denial of it. One of the most difficult moments of childhood must be when each of us first realizes that not only we but all our loved ones will die—and there is nothing we can do about it. Or at least, there hasn’t been. Today, we are living through a revolution in biology. Giant strides are being made in understanding why we age—and why some species live longer than others. Could we eventually cheat disease and death and live for a very long time, possibly many times our current lifespan?

very well written and more objective than most
Revisado: 01-15-25
this is a good book on the summaries of what we know about aging so far. it was good he also brought up many researchers in aging including David Sinclair who is still sticking to his unverified claims and scammed a drug company for over $700 millions.
the reason for only 4 instead of 5 star review is his idea of "intergenerational fairness". his idea that old brains don't work as well as young ones is correct, but he also assume boomers and millennials/gen-z have same work ethics and boomers are not letting go of their positions to the younger gens. the fact is younger gens with social media influences are often unprepared and not willing to put in the work or time but demand senior pays, while expect senior staff to permanently do some of their work. even in medicine, many older docs end up taking calls for the young docs as young docs refuse to take calls because of "work life balance'. older gens can't let go of income and power, while younger gens can't wait to to stop working or retire early. life is not fair and only fools think it can be fair to all.

Enjoyed it until the last half hour when the story turned boring and disappointing. Not bad for a free audiobook but I would not have paid for it. The Spatial Audio is pretty cool.

We destroy the fear-mongers in this book with example after example of how wrong the naysayers are. Oh, they won't stop with the peddling of doom and gloom mind you. They'll still say you need millions to retire! And who can blame 'em? It's profitable being a prophet of doom.

VERY repetitive and long winded
Revisado: 12-11-24
10 minutes is enough for this audiobook to cover all info in it. instead of presenting his idea and explanations of why one should not worry too much about inflation causing retirement financial worries, he included many many examples and numbers that readers cannot possibly remember or care. some comparisons with the past examples form more than half century ago were irrelevant as we don't live in the past. technologies like AI are changing everything fast and there are more factors to consider than just inflation.

a boring psychology book
Revisado: 12-11-24
it's hard to stay interested when the book just goes on and on explaining the obvious. it can be much much more concise. ego and self interests are the main reasons for smart people to do stupid things. it got very repetitive and uninformative. it felt like a 1 hour of audiobook got stretched to more than 10 hours with a lot of boring fillers. it's not just IQ, RQ or EQ that determine how people make decisions, but a lot of it is personality and their past experiences.
