Historia
Ten-year-old Nem has just witnessed her mother's brutal murder and her life appears destined for tragedy. Until, that is, she finds her mother‘s old green journal which holds an incredible secret. This innocent looking book seems to contain the power over luck. As she uses it, Nem discovers the diary keeps a strange kind of karmic balance, that in gifting someone good fortune she must steal another's first. All it takes is a simple entry. There's dangers though, and not just for others but also for Nem.

liked but not loved
Revisado: 05-12-22
This book was good but not great. I started it and then I stopped listening for quite a while. I think I lost interest in the characters. I wasn't caring enough for them. The narrator wasn't too bad he made it interesting. the book was not gripping, scary but it did have a good message to it.

Not as spooky
Revisado: 07-23-21
I enjoyed this book. It took me a while to get through the whole series., I didn't find it to be spooky or horror I found it to be maybe creepy. The ending wasn't what I expected. I would still recommend it because the story is good.

Karen Abbott's colorful, nuanced portrait of the iconic Everleigh sisters; their world-famous brothel, the Everleigh Club; and the perennial clash between our nation's hedonistic impulses and Puritanical roots culminates in a dramatic last stand between brothel keepers and crusading reformers. Sin in the Second City offers a vivid snapshot of America's journey from Victorian-era propriety to 20th-century modernity.

More for Research
Revisado: 08-16-20
I read this book for research. I'm writing a book set in the '20s so I thought it would help with my writing. It was good but I got a little bord midway through where I stopped reading it. I also read it for the prostitution aspect of it because my main character is a prostitute in the '20s. That aspect of the book was interesting and will help me understand how a brothel works in that era.

Way Disappointed!
Revisado: 12-03-19
I'm not sure what to say about this book. It sounded interesting reading the back of it but when it came to reading it, the story dragged. The story wasn't that interesting, there wasn't a real climax. The narration was the best part of the story. I lost interest three-quarters of the way through. Which means the book could have been shorter. If you like a lot of technical writing on how plants grow this book is for you, if not I would bypass it.

Surprise Ending...
Revisado: 09-30-19
This book needs a sequel, If I was writing this book I would have written one. It was a little slow and hard to get into at the beginning. Once you get to know the characters the story flies. I would recommend this book it's worth the credit point.

Historia
From his rapid-fire stand-up comedy riffs to his breakout role in Mork & Mindy and his Academy Award-winning performance in Good Will Hunting, Robin Williams was a singularly innovative and beloved entertainer. He often came across as a man possessed, holding forth on culture and politics while mixing in personal revelations - all with mercurial, tongue-twisting intensity as he inhabited and shed one character after another with lightning speed. But as Dave Itzkoff shows in this revelatory biography, Williams’ comic brilliance masked a deep well of conflicting emotions and self-doubt.

There's a lot you don't know about Robin
Revisado: 11-07-18
At least that's what I thought after finishing this book. I don't want to give anything away concerning his life. I will say, the narrator did a very nice job he almost sounded like Robin which made it seem like Robin was telling his own story. I enjoyed it. Robin was just like everyone else in the world, he was human.

Good but not mind blowing
Revisado: 08-06-18
In the first book, I couldn't stop listening. This second book I stopped listening for quite a while. It took me several months to start listening again. I'm not sure why but, maybe because it wasn't as gripping as the first, maybe it was the narrator I'm not quite sure. I finally finished it last week. I liked it but it could have been better. The characters were not as vivid as they were in the first book. I still consider it a good read but I was a little disappointed because the first book, in my opinion, was extraordinarily good.

I could not stop listening!
Revisado: 02-24-18
This is one of the best books I've ever listen to. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series. I would recommend this book, actually I already have recommended this book to a couple of people. If someone asks me for a recommendation for a good book to read, this book will be the book I recommend. I loved her writing. Tana French's development of characters was extremely Vivid through the narrator's voice. Best piece of writing I have listen to in quite a while.
