Not Quite Done

I am so tired of Callie not being able to catch a freaking break. At the end of books 1 and 2, there was a tiny, minuscule win at the very end. I am hoping that this changes at the end of book 3
Update
The doom and gloom continued literally until the very last chapter and then the book just ended. I am not sure I want to read more of this author, but I've already purchased a new series. My fingers crossed that this new series isn't more of the same doom-and-gloom

Mid - listen review

I don't understand why in the world Zeke is in a position of power after he did so much l. also, why is the expectation for this abused and battered woman so high when she was treated like crap for all of her life, and why are her advisers not doing a better job of advising this unexpected queen?
As we all suspected, the person we thought was the villain is, in fact, the villain. I can't wait to hear what was found on his phone. Punish him, please!
This was a good but frustrating read. I'm going to listen to book 3. I'm still intrigued.

It's a little cheesy but still an okay read. This is a reset book when you've been in a genre for too long and need a change. You'll find yourself rolling your eyes a lot, thinking, "Seriously??" or "Of you did or are." It's very instant—love.

Too Boring DNF

I tried! The back-and-forth, the holding back on information—I couldn't take it anymore. I got to Chapter 18 and gave up the Ghost. The Narration was spot on. The story started off fast, then crept along with indecision and indecisiveness. Clearly, others did not agree. See for yourself, it just might be your cup of tea.

Unexpected Surprise

This was such a a good book. This was such a a well written journey of vengeance and the good guys winning.
The narrator was completely appropriate.
On to book 2.

Nice Introduction to this author

When I first read it I immediately thought of the Inn Keeper books by Ilona Andrews, but this is not it. It may have been inspired or may not have been but these books in my opinion are completely different.
Anywho, Nyx Fortuna was unbeknownst to her made to be the keeper of a waystation, which is similar to a customs agent. She has an assistant that is a bada*s amazon and a Griffon that is forever by her side. In this first book in the series Nyx finds a place to call home and also a little about herself along with a mysterious necklace that she promised to protect. There is plenty of adventure and friends made along the way and a confrontation with the love that abandoned her. I look forward to the next books.

Not My favorite

I did not like the story. JTG is one of my favorite writers so I was surprised. I'm wondering if book 2 will be more of the same. 😞
I Also don't like that we were dragged along until the end of the book for the big reveal.

Synopsis
The h fell in love and pregnant by the H as a teenager. The H's dad was an SOB that coerced the H into leaving his love which was coincidentally before she found out that she was pregnant.
The H later was informed that the h killed herself.
The h had plastic surgery and grew to be a bitter, man hating force to be reckoned with that by chance reconnected with the H and sought a plan to destroy him.
The rest of the book tells how she did what she did and how they found love.
