Historia
Has your spiritual life hit a ditch? Instead of peace and prayer in the morning, do you find yourself dashing out the door, apologizing to God for being in a rush, feeling regret as you charge off to the meet your day? Is there a glass ceiling over your prayers, worse, have you felt He isn't listening anymore, and you know it's probably your own fault? Do you feel as if you're drifting, like flotsam in the river, instead of riding the flood of God's strength; is your worship life down to what happens at church, fed to you by others, predigested and ground like baby food, better than nothing...

best read in a book form
Revisado: 04-21-25
this is a daily devotion/reflection book and not well suited for an audio book. I did purchase the hard copy and found it a very easy way to get me back into a routine of spending time with God daily. I am thankful for that. the stories were light-hearted and easy to read; more personal antidotes of the author than a study of the scriptures, and sometimes I didn't notice an obvious connection to the scripture verse, but with that being said, the author made it easy to continue reading daily for the 90 days and re- develop a habit of daily time with God.

offensive language/missed the mark
Revisado: 03-30-25
I stopped listening as the 2nd sex scene started. there was a lot of foul language throughout (F bombs were a part of the main characters' regular conversations) which I was trying hard to overlook because I was interested in the story initially. However, when the characters began referring to their genitalia as D--k and P---y, I was just too turned off. Romance that is smutty is not my cup of tea. I also found it ridiculously difficult to believe that this healthy 20-something couple (who were attracted to each other) had been spending all of their spare time together, regularly sleeping in the same bed together in their underwear ( often drunk and high), yet had managed to avoid kissing, making out, or having any kind of physical encounter. I'm sorry, but no...not gonna happen. Even more ridiculous was that when the couple finally did connect physically, it was not a long, passionate kiss- nope, it was oral sex... outside, in a neghborhood, against the garage door at a child's birthday party. Come on, really? Narration was very good (male narrator had a very smooth & sexy voice), and the premise of the story was good, but for me it was too crude and somehow missed the mark on how the relationship unfolded. I was much more inspired and warmed by the depth of the relationship of the characters in "Eleanor Oliphant" than this story.

humorous; witty analogies
Revisado: 09-14-24
narrator was great! I could actually picture the characters and their mannerisms while listening to the different voices. alot of the dialog was humorous and I wished I had remembered some of the analogies because they were very clever. The plot had sort of a twilight zone vibe to it which was interesting, but I felt the story line dragged in the middle a bit. My least favorite part was all the "F-bombs" and other bad language used by nearly every character in the story. To me, it was offensive and added very little to the story. overall, it was an enjoyable listen, but not one of my favorites that I'll recommend to my friends and family.

pleasant but predictable
Revisado: 09-19-22
I thought the story was pleasant but VERY predictable. it ended very abruptly without any closure. it served the purpose of keeping my mind occupied on a long drive, but for me it was neither memorable nor remarkable.

Historia
Marvellously atmospheric tale of strangers summoned to a grand but neglected villa on the Italian coast. Each of them has been named in a will, but nobody knows their benefactress.... Four very different people are named in a will. Delia, an opera singer robbed of her voice by illness; George, an idealistic scientist who cannot face what his skills have created; Marjorie, desperately poor and unable to dislodge her writer’s block; and Lucius, ostensibly in control but whose personal life is in chaos.

kept me guessing
Revisado: 06-25-22
the story started slow and I almost stopped listening, but the story did pick up and then kept my interest through to the end. I liked that it was unpredictable and kept me guessing throughout as the story unfolded and the mystery of who Beatrice was and how the people mentioned in her will were connected to her and each other. it was one of my favorite free titles

Alice Wright marries handsome American Bennett Van Cleve hoping to escape her stifling life in England. But small-town Kentucky quickly proves equally claustrophobic, especially living alongside her overbearing father-in-law. So, when a call goes out for a team of women to deliver books as part of Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library, Alice signs on enthusiastically. The leader, and soon Alice's greatest ally, is Margery, a smart-talking, self-sufficient woman who's never asked a man's permission for anything.

Historia
The signs are unmistakable. Jesus said there would be clear signs in our world before his return. Over the last few months and years, as we read headline after amazing headline, those signs seem to be escalating. Could Christ's return and our world's final days be very far away? Greg Laurie opens up the Scriptures, offering insight, warning, and encouragement to "make the most of every opportunity" in these challenging days.
