Historia
In Avenging Home, we see how the long-running battle between Morgan's people and their number one nemesis plays out. While Morgan thinks this is the biggest threat they face, there are things on the horizon he cannot yet see that are going to dwarf these problems. Morgan has lived in a vacuum. He's had little information about the outside world. While he's used radios to listen to what he can, there's been precious little real information.

This is Where it Gets Political!
Revisado: 01-14-25
It had to come to conservatism versus liberalism. Plenty of false assertions about democrats wanting to take away guns, not supporting the constitution, and hating the second amendment. This is a complete downside of the entire series. People need to understand that politicians are the one’s who create these divisions and propagate their spread. Republicans and Democrats alike are complicit and anyone who thinks otherwise is oblivious. The author made it clear that he/she has a deep disdain for anyone who has opposing views on gun safety and regulation. Well, I have news for people who think democrats or liberals as they call us are not as prepared for these situations as they are, you’re wrong! We’re not sitting around sipping on Starbucks and eating danish rolls hoping the government will take our rights away. Please educate yourself and grow up!

If society collapsed, could you survive? When Morgan Carter's car breaks down 250 miles from his home, he figures his weekend plans are ruined. But things are about to get much, much worse: the country's power grid has collapsed. There is no electricity, no running water, no Internet, and no way to know when normalcy will be restored - if it ever will be.

I can’t wait to listen to the next book! Very realistic, very believable. In fact, it’s eerily close to where I see things going now.

The narrator was not bad, I just think there are much better voices out there for this kind of story.

Not a Fan of the Narrator
Revisado: 07-09-22
Richard Ferrone is not a bad narrator, but he is too monotone across characters. He is not skilled like Frank Mueller who did Desecration and a couple of others. Frank provides a clear distinction between characters and his theatrical inflections make for an enjoyable listening experience. I wish Frank were finishing up the series, as there is lots of drama that would be captured by his narration style, versus the sometimes monotonous voice of Richard.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

I tried to listen to this book a few months ago and couldn’t get into it. Several books later, I tried again... really tried. Ended up going to sleep on it. The narrator has a nice voice and good technique, but the story is slow and boring! Sorry!

Historia
Is mankind headed for destruction? How will it all end? When will it happen? What is man's destiny? Will we die by our own hand or by the hand of God? For thousands of years, the questions have been the same. Millions of souls have searched for the answers to no avail; nevertheless, some believed they knew. We call them prophets. They saw the end of our world, and they believed their visions were true.

Historia
The year is 2380. The Intersolar Commonwealth, a sphere of stars some 400 light-years in diameter, contains more than 600 worlds, interconnected by a web of transport "tunnels" known as wormholes. At the farthest edge of the Commonwealth, astronomer Dudley Bose observes the impossible: Over 1,000 light-years away, a star...vanishes. It does not go supernova. It does not collapse into a black hole. It simply disappears.

Sorry, But I Cannot Finish This Laborious Book!
Revisado: 01-14-16
What disappointed you about Pandora's Star?
Too many characters to keep track of. Too much digression to side story lines. I have made it through 2/3 of the book and I am just tired of listening. I can't count how many times I asked myself - "What the hell does this have to do with Pandora's Star?". Very frustrating read.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I have moved on to my first listen of "1984".
Would you be willing to try another one of John Lee’s performances?
I'm open to it, but very skeptical.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Pandora's Star?
Everything but what is directly related to Wilson and the Primes. Sorry, but there are too many side stories and characters to keep up with.
Any additional comments?
I may try and finish this after I'm done with 1984, but I can't promise it. I'm glad I got this book with a free credit and not one I actually paid for.

They are coming. The countdown has begun. First visible only as blips on a telescope image, the discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter's orbit immediately sets humanity on edge. NASA doesn't even bother to deny the alien ships' existence. The popular Astral space app (broadcasting from the far side of the moon and accessible by anyone with Internet) has already shown the populace what is coming.

Just "Okay"!
Revisado: 10-29-15
What did you like best about Invasion? What did you like least?
The only thing that I really liked, and that kept me reading was the anticipation surrounding the coming spheres.
Has Invasion turned you off from other books in this genre?
Kind of. I love "prepper" stories, and I certainly love alien scifi. I get how the two "can" go together, but for me it just doesn't work. In this book, I found myself wanting to know more about the coming spheres, only to be snatched back into prepper stuff.
Which character – as performed by Ray Porter – was your favorite?
I liked Meyer best.
Did Invasion inspire you to do anything?
Not really.
Any additional comments?
While I don't think this book was a waste of my time, I'm not really looking forward the next one in the series. Even the graciously provided sneak-peek into the next book, left me thinking it is more about prepper survival than alien sci-fi. Again, I love both genres, but I'm not sure I want to deal with that mix anymore.
