Historia
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Engaging from the start
Revisado: 06-17-23
Very well written with a refreshing style and honesty. There were times when he shared bits about his journey with grief that I could identify with his thoughts and feelings. The way he admits to having vulnerabilities at different times in his life is a kind of bravery that few, especially in the public eye, know how to do.
It is horrible that British tabloids could treat anyone as badly as they did Meghan. I didn't realize how despicable many of their words and actions were. It's a mystery why they can get away with it. She deserves respect and privacy just like all of us!
The military experiences he had and his devotion to his country were inspirational, and I'm not one who likes war movies or the whole concept, but his perspective is a new one to consider.
I highly recommend this book!

Some interesting twists!
Revisado: 06-18-22
The story is intriguing. The narrator used a somewhat bland tone in many parts where it didn't fit for me. The sessions were too clipped, too much like a facts-only-sir with little expressiveness, or empathetic skills most therapists have. Many of those sessions were important to the plot, but hard to get through, and didn't seem believable. I wish I could have "heard" her pondering in her voice.
I'm glad to have listened to it all , it is a complex concept for a mysterious story, and the author ties the pieces together in a satisfying way.

Kind of cheesey, but a relief from danger, & drama. It was predictable, and yet I listened to the end.

Intriguing overlay of time frames
Revisado: 12-23-20
The story was captivating enough that I listened to it all, and it was worth the time. However, I found the overly rough German annoying, not because the characters were harsh people but because I've been to Germany and they do not sound like they do in old World War II movies, or Hogan's Heros.

Historia
An utterly unsentimental journey toward the end of life, Mala is an irreverent exploration of how we live, cope, and survive in the moment. Grounded in Lopez’s distinctive emotional language and sharp humor, this powerful one-woman show dances between doctors and urgent 911 calls, a mother’s growing frailty, and a daughter’s quest for grace - all set during an epic Boston winter. Rather than depict a “right way”, the play opens the door for our universal struggle to support those we love in dying, especially when all we’ve ever focused on is surviving.

Historia
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

A new perspective about women
Revisado: 08-11-19
This book was such a different concept for the lives of women from the 1940's until present, that I was captivated from the start. Everyday I was anxious to start listening again to find out how they were doing; as if they were my friends. Elizabeth Gilbert's style is detailed enough that I found myself wanting to find these characters so that I could give him a hug or ask them for one, and if that wasn't what I needed, they would help me find my own strengths. I highly recommend this complex yet easy to follow story.

Historia
From breakout stand-up comedian Iliza Shlesinger comes a subversively funny collection of essays and observations on a confident woman's approach to friendship, singlehood, and relationships. "Girl Logic" is Iliza's term for the way women obsess over details and situations that men don't necessarily even notice. She describes it as a characteristically female way of thinking that appears to be contradictory and circuitous but is actually a complicated and highly evolved way of looking at the world.

Historia
The world will end on Saturday. Next Saturday. Just before dinner, according to The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, the world's only completely accurate book of prophecies, written in 1655. The armies of Good and Evil are amassing and everything appears to be going according to Divine Plan. Except that a somewhat fussy angel and a fast-living demon are not actually looking forward to the coming Rapture. And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist.
