I hate the ai narrator!!!!

The book would have been ok, but I hate the ai narrator. It made the story stilted and for me unlistenable. I made it a couple chapters before I just turned it off. The lack of inflection and stilted dialogue were just too much for me.

Don’t get me wrong there was plenty of steam but I couldn’t get into the story fully because the reactions and interactions didn’t make much sense to me. It’s the insta attraction/ love that killed it for me. And for a main character who supposedly hates emotion he has no issue with hers or really even his own. I gave it two stars because I could actually listen all the way through the book but only because I dozed off for a bit.

Just ok for me. There are too many things explained away by weirdly off deluded logic that made it impossible for me to just listen and enjoy the story. I found myself keeping up a muttered commentary and that’s not a good sign for me

I had no problem following the story just the logic and the emotional connections didn’t make a lot of sense to me. Not a bad listen I just can’t wrap my head around some of the scenarios and reactions.

Really enjoyable

So it’s not going to be for everyone considering the location and types of beings 😏 but I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the delivery. I love the sarcastic humor and quirky characters. The “heroines” are damaged and strong without being over the top or whiny. The “heroes” are strong and funny without being total and complete a**holes or being threatened overly much by the heroines homicidal tendencies.

I love the blend of strength, confidence and humor that the author always gives the characters in her books. The women are strong but not cold or total witches. They are never whiners even when they have every right to be. The men are strong confident men’s men without being alphaholes. I can’t wait for the next one!

Surprisingly really good!

I have been looking for a new series to binge but I had never heard of this author. I was a little leery but thought why not......this is one I can listen to more than once and still be entertained. Kate is feisty, stubborn and intelligent enough to think things through all in a way that feels natural. I despise weak whiney female leads. While there are moments it’s pretty obvious she’s the weakest physically, she doesn’t take anything laying down. The male lead is dominant without being a jerk about it or borderline abusive. He’s understanding and patient without giving in or giving up. He sticks to the morales of his culture and gives her some breathing room to come to grip with things. The progression of the relationship felt more natural......it was a lot more comfortable than some alien abductions where man sees woman and in the next sentence they are in love and going at it. I hope there are going to be more books in this series. Otherwise I’ll have to find the print version.
