Historia
Sasha Pierce hasn’t had a single dream since she was a child...until she accepts a substitute teaching position in the charmingly witchy village of Old Middleton. Her first dream in twenty-five years ought to be enchanting, but her wonder quickly turns to shock when she realizes that it’s not a dream at all, but an entirely different sort of magic. Catapulted through an ancient portal into the fairytale kingdom of Between, Sasha’s astonishment is swiftly upgraded to panic when she accidentally performs a supposedly impossible feat and is declared the True Queen of Between.

Absolutely one of my top listens so far this year!
Revisado: 04-06-23
The performances, and the way this was written with the two full points of view over the same time frame was fabulous! Magic, intrigue, dual world views...I am wanting more! it's going to be a bit of a wait until the next book releases and is recorded, but I'll be ready for it!
I'll be looking for more performances from both narrators in the mean time!

He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Well written and beautifully performed. The characters were relatable, the pace was spot on. I'll be searching out more books by MR Carey and definitely listen to most anything narrated by Finty Williams.

EXCELLENT Storytelling
Revisado: 04-29-21
This book grabbed me from the start. The fact that it is based on a very real woman makes it that much better! I have become more and more interested in war stories and the realities faced by so many common, ordinary people, but this woman and true life heroine was extraordinary. The writing and performance were exceptional. I will go on to read more of Ariel Lawhon's books and listen to Barrie Kreinik narrate nearly any genre.

Having visited some of the places Rick highlights here, I had to smile and revisit them with his words. You can hear the delight and down to earthedness while he tells a bit about his love of Europe. Seems Rick likes to get tipsy and naked in a lot of countries!!! I can respect that!!!

Fugitive Colors is a gripping debut novel of an artist's indomitable vengeance after World War II. Julian Klein, a young American artist, rebels against his religious upbringing and is eager for the artistic freedom of 1930s Paris. He flees Chicago only to find himself consumed by a world in which a paintbrush is far more lethal than a gun. An artist turned spy, Julian at the same time competes with jealous inferior artists who feverishly attempt to destroy those with true talent.

Friendship and Jealousy
Revisado: 02-28-21
Heartwrenching story based on horrid truths of the Nazis and their theft and destruction in the art world in the 20th century. Well written, though you'll be admonishing the characters out loud at points. I had huge tears at the very end.
Nicely performed.
