Publisher's summary

Dark desires... Deadly secrets... Devious deceptions... Nothing is exactly as it seems in Insidious, the new erotic thriller from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Aleatha Romig!

When a powerful man is willing to risk everything for his own satisfaction, only one woman can beat him at his own game: his wife. Or so she thinks... "Let's start with you calling me Stewart. Formalities seem unnecessary." Stewart Harrington is rich, gorgeous, and one of the most powerful men in Miami. He always gets what he wants. Anything is available to him for the right price. Even me. Being the wife of a mogul comes with all the perks, but being Mrs. Stewart Harrington comes with a few special requirements. I've learned to keep a part of myself locked away as my husband watches me submit to his needs. But the more he demands of me, the more beguiled he becomes and that's to my advantage. So I keep fulfilling his fantasies and following his rules because he doesn't know that what he's playing is really my game. And winning is everything, right?

Insidious is a stand-alone novel and the first Tales From the Dark Side title by Aleatha Romig.

5 WTF Mind Blown Stars

Stewart Harrington – What can I say about this fella he isn’t who he appears to be, or is he?
Victoria Harrington – I have words for her but CUNNING is at the top of my list.

This is not a book I would have picked up myself to say the least. But I am in a book club and this book was picked, and so many people have said nothing but great things about it.
I am 150% happy I listened to this book; it’s all dark and twisty. Again not a book I normally go for, but so intriguing as soon as I started it I couldn’t stop.

I have so many thoughts, like why was her mother that way to begin with? Why was she different towards her siblings then she was to Victoria? Was it because of who Victoria’s father was?
Do contracts like that even excite? And if so who legalizes them? Ultimately my only question is who you do the same for your loved ones? I know I would do anything for my sister, I may not have come out the same as Victoria did that’s for sure but I would do what I could for my family.

Lastly because seriously I have to say something about the last line.. I love that its left up to us to decided how things end.

Mwhahahahaa…

And can we give props to this narrator she did such an awesome job, I can't even!

Suspenseful and well written

I enjoyed this book. It was different and unpredictable. I love the suspense and the characters were well written. On top of this, it was steamy and erotic. Once I started I was not able to put it down. It's worth a credit.

Can't believe I paid for this! Very disappointing!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

First of all, I was a huge fan of the Consequences series. But this book is nothing like that series! If you like graphic sex (think 50 Shades but with less likeable characters) and little plot development, this is the book for you! Based on the description, I expected a thriller and some sex, not sex and a very thin mystery plot. No likeable characters, no character development...did not even seem like the same author. But the narrator was good.

Would you ever listen to anything by Aleatha Romig again?

Yes, I am hoping this was a one time bad book.

Which scene was your favorite?

The last one.

Did Insidious inspire you to do anything?

Read the reviews more carefully.

Great Read! Insidious is a perfect title, Loved it

Would you consider the audio edition of Insidious to be better than the print version?

I didn't read the print version... I love listening to books and the performance is great!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Insidious?

When Stewart is dying and Victoria says goodbye... Perfect!

Which character – as performed by Savannah Richards – was your favorite?

Victoria. Savannah Richards is excellent in her narration of this book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book was emotional, but didn't bring me to tears... some laughter, but mostly, I was so drawn to Victoria and what she had to endure in order to survive a situation that she didn't really have a choice to remove herself from. Her strength and compassion for her siblings was commendable.

Any additional comments?

This story kept me very interested, I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews. I listen to a couple books a week and I feel like I'm pretty fair in my reviews, and I like books that don't have a lot of "filler" details. This book has an in depth story/plot... lots of ups and downs, in my opinion, a good ending with resolution that I was satisfied with. Most definitely worth a credit!

Sick, twisted, and fantastic!

Excellent!

This book has everything! Hot steamy sex scenes (if you can get past the uncomfortable ones), love (a little), a lot of mystery (which I love), adventure, and it kept you guessing right through to the end! I loved the ending! Had to rewind a couple times to figure it out! This is a great author who knew how to keep u on the edge of your seat!

Insidious

I love books by Aleatha Romig. They are always dark and twisted. This one is definitely her style, but a little in the “lighter” side did her. That being said, it’s still twisted m. There was a lot to unpack j with this story and it had twists, turns and a few surprises. There were a few twists that I actually figured out before they were revealed, but didn’t dampen my enjoyment of the book. I read quite a few reviews, and I’m surprised with some of the comments I. The negative reviews. One issue that I agreed with is the young age Victoria was when she was coerced into marrying Stewart. It makes sense once some of the revelations come about, but it’s still difficult to digest in the beginning of the book. One reviewer stated there was a cliffhanger, I felt the book ended well. I don’t feel like it had a cliffhanger ending. Overall, I would say don’t be dissuaded by the negative reviews. The story is reasonably solid, moved along well and the growth of the main character is excellent. I love to see a female character being strong and Victoria definitely grew and became a strong woman who took control!
