Minister La La sits down with Kellen Perkins. Kellen is a natural story teller. He shares his definition of authentic joy. He tells the stories of his family and kinship that helped shaped his life and how important they are to him and he holds nothing back. As this is a Black History month conversation, Kellen and Minister La La speak about the experience of growing up as a Black gay man in Utah. With tidbits of Black History shared throughout the episode. But most importantly he shares his history and his family’s history. Listen to Minister La La as he sits down with James Rose (he/him) a 20 year transgender man. They discuss his self-discovery and the challenges he faced growing up Mormon in a small city in Arizona as a transgender teen. James is an old soul in a young body. He has a lot of insight and wisdom to share.

James is a graphic arts student at the University of Utah. His love of art and authentic storytelling has driven a passion for creating self-published zines. He just published his first zine and they discuss his project to bring more zines to publication for the world to enjoy.

For Transgender awareness week, Minister La La sits down and has a very insightful, fun, and fabulous conversation with a transgender woman named Jessica and her fiance, Ross.
As Minister La La states during the introduction, due to the current climate of anti-transgender rhetoric, violence and politics we have decided to keep Jessica and Ross anonymous for this podcast. November is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. During this month we wanted to make sure we took some time to speak about men’s mental health. Share a story of a man’s journey working on his mental health the importance of how that helps them to recognize and celebrate their full authentic selves and fabulosity.
Minister La La sits down with Colby Majors to talk about his mental health journey. From being baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints knowing he was gay, to going on a mission, getting married and starting a family. Finally he finds his way to understanding and accepting his true authentic self and his healing journey.

Trigger Warning: This last month has been a traumatizing month for a lot of the LGBTQ+ community, our loved ones, and our allies. I am providing a listener warning on this episode. This episode we will talk about subjects that can be triggering to some. We will discuss suicide, bullying, hate, violent acts, and death. Minster La La discusses the tragedy of the bullying and death of Nex Benedict with Tina Valenin Aguirre and Kylie Minono. They speak of from their own perspectives of how this has affected them personally and what they have seen in the community. The conversation is emotional, raw, and honest. They touch of the transgender experience, trans joy, what brings them hope, and brings them fear. But even though we the community is facing a lot of hate from a lot of political rhetoric there is still ways to spread joy, happiness and fabulosity for themselves and their families - biological and chosen!

Kylie Minono, (he/him/she/her) based in San Francisco, was elected Grand Duchess 39 with the Grand Ducal Council of San Francisco and has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities. She is also a highly sought-after entertainer throughout California and was crowned Miss Star Search 2015. In her professional life she works in the nonprofit sector in fundraising and philanthropic services. She has served on the board of directors for Folsom Street Events and the GLBT Historical Society.

Tina Valentin Aguirre (they/them): Tina holds a BA in Communication from Stanford University, has worked in non-profit grant writing for more than three decades, served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the GLBT Historical Society for four years and has made documentaries, produced arts festivals, and is a published poet. Tina curated the Chosen Familias exhibition on LGBTQ Latine family photo albums (June-October 2019) at the GLBT Historical Society Museum. They have served as the Cultural District Director of the Castro LGBTQ Cultural District since 2020; the district uses racial, gender, and queer equity frameworks to center LGBTQ people, places, and culture in the Castro
