The Hurricanes entered with the best divisional record in the NHL, but road games ain't easy. Naturally, these teams don't get along, so this game got physical at times. The goalies made big saves.

It was an extremely fun game. Svech scored on the pp early, the Staal line was great, Jost scored. Pyotr was great!

Aho was due, and he scored short handed to get things started. From there Carrier, Martinook, and Kk all contributed with goals, with Staal picking up two assists along the way. Dustin Tokarski made his first start in goal for the Hurricanes and played very well.

Once again the Hurricanes trailed after two periods at home, 1-0. This time they didn't have a comeback in them. Pyotr was very good. The forwards haven't scored in two games. This is Carolinas first home shutout and second overall this season.

Carolina was sloppy defensively, at times, and trailed 2-1 after 40 minutes. But, early in the 3rd period Burns tied the game at 2-2 with a goal, before Chatfield sent the canes home as winners.

Svechnikov scored twice on the powerplay, but it wasn't enough to overcome poor 5v5 play, particularly in the 2nd period where the Islanders scored 4.

The Kraken scored very early and held the Canes to just seven shots and one goal through the first two periods. In the third Necas was buzzing, but it wasn't enough. There was an overturned goal which was questionable, but ultimately the Hurricanes didn't play well enough.
