By: J. Rosemarie Francis
  • Summary

  • Welcome to SoloMoms! Talk podcast where solo (divorced, single, married, widowed) moms share their stories and gain a whole new perspective on their own lives. Host, J. Rosemarie welcomes dynamic guests who share their personal stories as well as offer helpful tips and strategies to solo moms globally, so they can live more joy-filled lives. This show brings awareness to the unique experiences of moms raising their kids alone. Because a solo mom is not always "single". She may be widowed like Shaniqua Garvin: https://bit.ly/3tJ5KSv; or divorced like Nicole Lonzano: https://bit.ly/3HVMzdg: or still married like Allison Banfield: https://bit.ly/3Co9InM. Solo moms make up a whole spectrum of families headed by a woman bearing sole responsibility for raising her children. ___________________________________________________________ The podcast is designed to curate not only the struggles but also the triumphs of solo moms around the world. Expert interviews help to equip solo moms to become a better version of themselves, better parent/co-parent, and partner. _________________________________________________________ I want solo moms to know that they are not alone and they don't have to parent in silence. Mission of SoloMoms! Talk Podcast is to: 1) bring awareness to the struggles of solo moms; 2) shine a light on the positive impact they make on their families and communities; 3) reduce the number of solo moms globally, through education, connection, and self-education; and 4) to help them see themselves as God sees them. _________________________________________________________ Website: https://bit.ly/3IWWSiP This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podcorn - https://podcorn.com/privacy

  • The Truth About Love And Why It Doesn't Hurt w/J. Rosemarie Francis
    Feb 11 2025

    Love doesn't hurt.

I'm reminded of this truth while reading my latest book. It's a story about a woman who's brutally and routinely beaten by her husband.

Unfortunately, this is not just fiction. Every day millions of women are brutally beaten by people who say they love them. And it's not only the physical abuse that hurts.

In this episode, I reiterate the concept that love doesn't hurt. I talk about Christ's love for the church and can't imagine that he would hit His bride in the face or kick her with His foot.

Love Doesn't Hurt is a simple yet profound call to action for solo moms to look within and connect with a loving savior whose love is unconditional.

This Valentine's Day, if you find yourself alone and not where you want to be, remember, solo mom. Love doesn't hurt.

" Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. ~ Romans 13:10

  • Taming Picky Eaters: How to Build Healthy Eating Habits in Kids w/Dr. Lum Frundi
    Jan 28 2025

    Summary

In this episode, Dr. Lum Frundi, a pediatrician and founder of Generational Wellbeing, discusses the challenges of dealing with picky eaters and how parents can foster a healthy relationship with food for their children.

The discussion covers the developmental phases of eating, the importance of modeling healthy eating habits, and practical strategies for solo moms to encourage their children to eat better.

Dr. Frundi emphasizes the significance of mealtime as a bonding experience and offers insights into incorporating cultural foods into our children's diets.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Understanding Picky Eaters (01:07-01:55): Dr. Lum explains the difference between typical picky eating as a developmental phase and more serious food avoidance behaviors. She highlights that picky eating often stems from children asserting their independence and preferences.
    • Control with Freedom: Setting Boundaries (03:52-04:55): Dr. Lum shares a practical approach for parents: control what food is brought into the house and offer children structured choices. This method gives children a sense of control while maintaining healthy eating habits.
    • The Power of Modeling (06:08-07:50): Parents shape their children’s eating habits by modeling healthy behavior. Our discussion emphasizes the importance of parents eating meals with their kids to inspire long-term healthy choices.
    • Connecting Over Meals (11:37-13:00): Mealtimes are opportunities to connect with your kids beyond the plate. Asking children why they dislike certain foods and involving them in meal prep builds familiarity and strengthens your relationship with them and food.
    • Grace and Patience (24:01-24:58): Dr. Lum advises solo moms to give themselves grace and time when dealing with picky eaters. She notes that children’s food preferences often evolve as they grow, and modeling good eating habits consistently will eventually pay off.

Bio: Dr. Frundi is a board-certified pediatrician and the founder of Generational Wellbeing, an online resource dedicated to helping parents overcome mealtime challenges with picky eaters. With a focus on practical solutions and emotional support, Dr. Frundi provides parents with the tools to create healthy eating habits and reduce mealtime stress. Through her courses, workshops, and one-on-one coaching, she has helped countless families turn food battles into moments of connection.
