  • #63 Endometriosis Uncovered: Alyssa’s Path to Natural Wellness
    Oct 30 2024

🎙️ On this episode, of “Everything’s Messy Podcast”, I’m chatting with the amazing Alyssa, a fellow podcaster and functional nutrition pro who’s faced a tough journey with endometriosis. 🌿 Alyssa opens up about her long struggle with excruciating period pain and other mysterious symptoms that took years to diagnose.

We dive deep into what endometriosis actually is—an inflammatory condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, causing a whole lot of pain and problems. Alyssa sheds light on the potential causes, especially how the immune system might be connected.

We get real about the conventional treatments out there, like hormonal birth control and meds that just shut down the menstrual cycle without addressing what’s really going on. Alyssa then shares her personal shift to a more holistic approach that’s focused on anti-inflammatory foods and lifestyle changes. Think: cutting out gluten and dairy, adding more omega-3s, and saying bye-bye to sugar! 🥦🫐

We also tackle some big issues around modern agriculture and the way food is produced—could pesticides and GMOs be linked to rising food intolerances and conditions like endo? Alyssa believes they might be. 🌾

And of course, we talk about Alyssa's journey with fertility. Initially, she explored IVF, but she later found a natural, nutrition-based approach that’s been game-changing for her symptoms and fertility goals. Alyssa's story is one of resilience, learning, and taking charge of her health. 💪❤️

Ready to dive into this insightful and empowering conversation? Let’s get messy! 🌟

  • Episode #62 Beyond the Diagnosis: Building Habits and Advocating for Wellness
    Oct 23 2024

    Send us a text

In this episode of Everything’s Messy Podcast, I’m marking my dia-versary— 29 years since my diagnosis! It’s been quite a journey, but I’m grateful for another year of managing it and growing stronger. I also dig into a recent controversy with LMNT’s electrolyte drink, which turned out to have more maltodextrin than we thought. Not the best for gut health, so I’m breaking down the details for you.

We dive deep into metabolic health and why keeping an eye on blood sugar, triglycerides, HDL, blood pressure, and waist circumference is key to reducing inflammation and disease risk. Plus, I share my take on building healthy habits. If you’re looking to make lasting changes, I recommend checking out Atomic Habits, Dirty Genes and The Compound Effect. They're game-changers!

And lastly, I talk about the importance of taking charge of your own health. Many doctors aren't trained in nutrition, so becoming your own health advocate is essential. It’s all about educating yourself, making informed decisions, and taking responsibility for your well-being! 💪✨

Tune in for an episode packed with insights, a bit of reflection, and a lot of motivation to keep things moving in a healthier direction! 🎧🌟Keep it Messy!

  • #61 Messy Energy: Is The Health Revolution Coming?
    Oct 16 2024

    Send us a text

On this episode of Everything's Messy Podcast”, I’m doing something a bit different – we’re chatting about Casey and Calley Means' book Good Energy. It’s packed with eye-opening insights about food and health that I just have to share with you. 🌱

Lately, it seems like more people are waking up to the fact that food can either heal or hurt us. I love seeing this shift – we're realizing that the right foods can do wonders for our bodies. But we’ve still got a long way to go.

Casey Means and her brother Calley (who have been making rounds on Joe Rogan and Tucker Carlson) are spreading the word about this on a bigger scale. Their book breaks it down – how food affects our energy, metabolism, and mindset. It’s all connected. The signs of metabolic issues sneak up on us: a little extra weight around the middle, high blood pressure, and it’s all the start of something bigger if we don’t catch it early.

We’ve got to start asking better questions about our food and our health. It shouldn’t be about politics – it’s about all of us coming together to demand better for our families. We’ve got to stop slapping Band-Aids on problems and start addressing the root causes.

On another note, I want to hear from YOU! Join our Messy Movers group on Facebook where we dive into these topics even deeper. We also have a special space for my fellow Type 1 diabetics. 💙

Thanks for tuning in, and as always, keep it messy, my friends! ✨
