Atlanta won the series and are currently 11 games over .500. (10:00) The Braves have two starting pitchers on the All-Star roster despite losing Spencer Strider for the season. Reynaldo Lopez and Chris Sale are each in Cy Young contention at the moment. (18:00) The Braves drafted Cam Caminiti with the 24th overall pick in Sunday night's MLB Draft. Caminiti is a 17-year old left-handed pitcher from Scottsdale, Arizona. Most experts expected Caminiti to be picked well before Atlanta's turn. (05:00) David relays how special Saturday night was as Bobby Cox received a thunderous standing ovation from the home crowd. It is only the second time that Cox was at Truist Park since his stroke in 2019. Eric tells the listeners about the time that the former skipper truly had his back. (16:00) Atlanta took the final two games of the three game series against the visiting Phillies. Spencer Schwellenbach had a solid outing as he only allowed one run in Saturday night's 5-1 victory. David & Eric begin with Max Fried, who went toe to toe with Paul Skenes on Saturday afternoon. (09:00) David gives an update on Michael Harris II, who has been on the IL since June 15th with a strained left hamstring. (12:00) The Braves beat Pittsburgh on Friday night 6-1 to open the weekend series. All but four of the outs were recorded by pitchers that are in their forties as Charlie Morton handed the ball off to Jesse Chavez. (17:00) Atlanta fell 4-2 on Sunday to miss an opportunity to sweep. Spencer Schwellenbach allowed four runs in only five innings of work, but did notch seven strikeouts. (25:00) The season has passed the halfway point and thus far Orlando Arcia is struggling mightily at the plate. Arcia last season had an OPS of .741 and in 2024 it is far lower at .582. (04:00) Michael Harris II injured his hamstring in Friday night's 7-3 win and has placed on the IL. Harris was diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain and David notes the severity of the injury. Jared Kelenic moved over to replace Harris in CF and also hit leadoff on Saturday and Sunday. (16:00) The Braves currently do not have solidified fifth starter. Hurston Waldrep struggled in his second career start on Sunday as he gave up six runs against Tampa Bay in less than four innings of work. Following the outing, Waldrep was optioned to AAA-Gwinett. This leads to an extended discussion on the team's starting rotation. (32:00) Austin Riley's homer on Sunday carried additional emotional weight as one of his mentors and former Braves hitting instructor Mike Brumley tragically passed away in a car accident overnight at sixty-one years old. (12:00) The offense struggled over the weekend and only scored a combined four runs on Friday and Saturday. Austin Riley is emblematic of this as he his hitting .230 this season and his OPS is at .648. (21:10) A look at who might represent the Braves at next month's All Star Game in Texas. They definitely will not match last years total of eight representatives at the Midsummer Classic. (29:00) Analysis of Hurston Waldrep's MLB debut on Sunday. Waldrep was charged with seven runs and was pulled in the bottom of the 4th in the loss. David & Eric convene as the Braves are 34-25 and are eight games behind Philadelphia. (10:00) Spencer Schwellenbach's second career start did not go as well as his debut vs. the Nationals. He gave up six earned runs and was lifted in the bottom of the 5th in the 9-0 loss to Boston. (17:00) Max Fried struck out a career high thirteen batters in Atlanta' 8-3 win at Fenway Park to open the series. Fried has lasted at least seven innings in five of his past six outings. (22:30) The offense only came through with one hit in Wednesday's loss. This leads to a discussion where David points out how negative the fans currently are in regards to the state of affairs. (27:00) The Braves have two more legs to their road trip and they next play a four game series in Washington D.C. There was a silver lining in the 11-9 loss as it was the most amount runs the offense scored since May 22nd in Chicago. (12:30) Reynaldo Lopez had another good outing in Friday night's 4-2 win. Lopez has the second lowest ERA in the National League (1.73) and only trails Philadelphia's Ranger Suarez. (22:00) The Braves visit Fenway Park this week for a two game series after having Monday off. Max Fried starts on Tuesday night and Spencer Schwellenbach will make his career start on Wednesday afternoon vs. the Red Sox. (27:00) David Fletcher started on the mound on Thursday night for Gwinett after having made a few relief appearances in AAA.
