About this listen

On June 4, 2008, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in a quiet suburb of Phoenix, Arizona, Jodi Arias stabbed Travis Alexander 29 times, cut his throat, and then shot him in the head. The killer then went to great lengths to cover up the crime, including sending his grandmother flowers, going to the memorial service, driving by the victim's house, and calling the lead investigator, Detective Esteban Flores.

It would take five years before the case would be put in front of a second jury and leave them to decide whether Arias was a cold, calculating killer or the victim of extreme domestic violence at the hands of an abusive boyfriend.

Paul Sanders sat in the public gallery for each and every one of the 47 days of the trial, and took extensive notes, transposing every twist and turn of it to social media every night. With allegations of pornography, racial slurs, and a search for the answer to the question of domestic violence and alleged child abuse, the journey is both painful and meticulous.

Humbling, intimidating, and powerful at the same time, this trial would test the jurors in ways they could never have foreseen, in their ultimate search for truth and justice.

Another ball hit out of the park!

If it's one thing Paul knows how to do, is engage the reader/listener. He seems to have 6 sets of eyes in the courtroom at all times and nothing gets past him. He will always continue to deliver the stuff those of us who are not in the courtroom never get to hear. His passion for true crime writing is rare. Most people who are invested in true crime get really focused on media hype, but not Paul. He stays true to his personal opinion and follows the facts of the case regardless of which side the public is on. He is a man of a million writing pads and it's how he creates his books. I will continue to buy his work! Great job Paul!

WOW

This is definitely the best book ever written on this case. And I just finished it with a tear in my eye.

Pretty good recap

Appreciate the recap, but kind of annoying how the author kept repeating some stuff over and over again (he was on a death penalty jury before and the defense lawyer looked like he was doing the chicken dance when he adjusted his business jacket).

Would be better with a different narrator.

Narrator makes this book hard to understand and want to keep listening. I think the book itseycould be good otherwise.

The Ultimate Fascinating Story

Wordy, lengthy, & captivating. Entertaining, thrilling, tense, taut, & right on target, from beginning, to end. Paul A. Sanders Jr., is the more sensitive version, of Stephen King. Assuming, that Mr. King, wrote nonfiction.

Great book

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and didn't want it to end. A down to earth portrayal of the case which was very easy to listen to. I will definitely be listening to all the other books from this author I can get my hands on.

Paints Alexander as the angel he wasn't!!!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The author is 100% biased towards Travis Alexander. He paints him as the angel that he was anything but! The author is totally incapable of giving a fair view of the proceedings!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Not surprised!

What aspect of Kelly Rhodes’s performance would you have changed?

He sounded like an electronic voice.

Did Why Not Kill Her: A Juror's Perspective inspire you to do anything?

Yes, to seek the truth from BOTH sides!

Any additional comments?

It would have been nice to have an unbiased view of what happened.

Not a great listen.

The narrator was awful but I'm not sure that the story was any better. Too long, repeats itself over and over.

Where is human compassion?

While I find what Jodi Arias did to Travis Alexander abhorrent and while I am disgusted with her deflection and lack of accountability - she is still a human being.

I don't know if I believe in the death penalty, I believe in God and don't believe we have a right to kill anyone. It is a gray area for me because child killers and even child molesters in my opinion should not be allowed to roam the planet.

That said, I find some of the things the writer said in the book to also be disgusting. Hating someone, wishing someone harm, laughing that someone could be "facing the grim reaper and weeping in her cell," is so inappropriate I could scream!

There are many things that are supposed to separate us from the psychopaths and sociopaths but the most important is our ability to feel empathy and compassion for ALL HUMANS!

It made my stomach sick each time I heard you say nasty and biting things about Jodi Arias. I can totally get onboard with being outraged at the murder, the pain and suffering of Travis, his family and the lies/deflection or the lack of accountability of Jodi Arias, however those are things she has done. Jodi Arias is a human being, she was created by god - while she may not deserve mercy (only God can say) as a human she does deserve our humanity. We can't understand what she has done. I don't think she understands what she has done. I'm not trying to protect an innocent murderer, I am trying to point out we don't have a right to behave without humanity ourselves. We must behave with compassion and regard for human life.

People don't wake up one day and just decide to be psychopaths or sociopaths or even narcissists. We will likely never know what turned Jodi into a murderer, know if she would kill again if she had her freedom,

Your hateful and taunting words were and are inappropriate. There is much presenting in her trials as facts that can not be fact beyond a reasonable doubt. The only fact is that Travis is dead and Jodi killed him.

Another book that I wish I could get a refund for.
