About this listen

What Wiccan games we play. Some wounds never die.

Six months after the devastating end of her last case as police clairvoyant, Zoë Delante sifts through the remains of her life, and gets an unexpected call. But the naga Seth Northman brings only ill-tidings: He has been apprehended in the murder of her father and needs her help.

Except that her father has been dead for almost 30 years.

Leaving the darkness she knows in Baltimore for the sunny climes of a little southwestern town in Arizona, Zoë falls headfirst into a whole new world of supernatural politics and intrigue. As she unravels the mystery that brought her there, the Wild, Wild West pushes her abilities and patience to the limit.

The clock is ticking, and the bosses keep getting worse. But who among her new acquaintances are her allies? The naga? The charismatic Star Prince? More importantly, who are her enemies?

Zoë's running out of time, but there are worse things than death.

Whispers of the Sidhe

I have very mixed feelings about this story. There was so much going on that at times I got a bit confused. I needed to stop, go back a bit and start again to figure out what was going on. Definitely more supernatural aspects in this book, than in the first two.

Kelley Hazen’s narration is a definite bright spot. Her ability to give unique voices to so many different characters kept me engaged.

Wiccan Thriller Continued

I have to admit I really enjoyed the first two books more as Zoe helped cops but still enjoyed this one. In this book Zoe get call from Seth as he is accused of murdering her father (he has suppose ably been dead for years) and she goes to Arizona. Zoe is one tough cookie finds out more about herself with this trip, meets Prince Sidhe. It has a lot of action with shapeshifting, magic, monsters, family secrets, murders and love. It also has some sexual situations and well horrific scenes; it was the narration that held my interest. I was given this free review copy audiobook from Storytellers production at my request and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU!

Complex and gripping...

It's been quite a while since my last visit to the world of Zoe Delante and it's an entertaining comeback...

This time Zoe leaves Baltimore and goes to Arizona where a new case awaits... Well, in fact, she's lured to Arizona on a false pretext but what she finds there is the weirdest, the most complicated and the most dangerous of all her cases so far. It's not only the paranormal and the criminal she has to face, but it's also the world of political intrigue that she steps into - and she's not much of a diplomat herself...:)

The plot is very fast but also very complex, involving the Sidhe, two were packs, brownies, fairies, ghosts,... and - to everyone's horror - Mab, who is not the benevolent fairies' Queen Shakespeare described but a figure so powerful that she scares the hell out of everybody... It starts almost innocently, but the further on we go, the more complicated and less obvious it becomes; there seems to be a mastermind behind everything that happens and Zoe discovers that this mysterious puppet master has plans within plans within plans... and she has to untangle all this mess to get to the bottom of things and save the little girl who seems to be the centre point everything turns around...

There are new characters, obviously, as we are in a new town, some of them really powerful, most of them trying to get rid of Zoe and her investigative instincts, and all of them hiding more than one secret. It's an intriguing bunch, you'll be surprised more than once by what they turn out to be and what they are capable of...

The only fault I could find with the book and the reason for me to deduct one star from my rating is the fact that with such a complex plot and so many new characters it was sometimes difficult for me to follow and put together all the details of the story to get the whole picture - but you may not have the same problem when you read the book instead of listening to it (you know, sometimes our focus wavers when we listen to things...). But on the whole it's a great continuation of the series.

Narration by Ms Hazen is great; Zoe's grief, anger and no-nonsense attitude are perfectly portrayed through her voice, all the other voices also quite match individual characters, both male and female. It's a bery good interpretation of the book.

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very interesting. This is the third book in the series and I enjoyed it as much as the first two. Zoe is still in morning, but she heads off to Arizona to help a friend get out of jail. Simple enough, except nothing is ever simple for Zoe especially when she meets the Sidhe Prince. The Fae may not be able to lie, but that doesn't mean they can't bend the truth, a hard lesson that Zoe learns. This unique mystery is well worth the listen.
