About this listen

The baby is quiet. Too quiet.

When Madeline checks on her seven-month-old daughter, she discovers the reason for the baby’s silence. Abigail is dead. Madeline is soon living every mother’s worst nightmare amid a cacophony of sirens and police interrogations.

Accusations and old resentments can’t stay contained under the pressure of guilt, tears, and the horror of picking out a baby-sized coffin. A line is drawn through Madeline and Brian’s marriage, and a battle begins.

But defining heroes and villains is as difficult as untangling the truth from the web that Madeline and Brian have created to protect themselves. Abigail’s killer isn’t the only monster hiding in the shadows. And among the dark secrets, everyone will crumble under the consequences.

A dark story about a mother’s worst nightmare! This was right up my alley as a true crime & horror addict. Some twist & turns that lead up to a shocking revelation about one of the most abhorrent crimes that can be committed.

Amazing debut novel!

Good story , just wished the there was a male narrator for the male characters. A bit confusing at times. Often I had to re listen to figure out who was the main subject. All the voices were very similar. I think with different voices, the characters would have had so much more personality and depth.

Needed 2 narrators

It went on and on and on with same thing….. it really annoyed me that I held on to listen to the full thing.

So overly repeated…..

I liked the story but because the character voices were exactly the same I would get confused as to which character was talking. I’d have to go back to listen again sometimes to figure out which character was talking. Then when characters were having a conversation with each other it wasn’t worth trying to continue. I’ve never listened to a book where there was one narrator with the same tone of voice for all characters. I was disappointed.

Started fine

Narrator was emotionally lacking, and sounded as if she could barely stay awake. I had to get out at Chapter 16.

narrator

80% racing thoughts and 20% mystery. Very few twists. my least favorite mystery within the last year.

Psychological musings

I didn’t like the raspy voice which was so
Monotonous . I listened to it to the end but it never improved

Lacking distinction between voices . Story line predictable and weak
