Beth Thatcher returns home from her first year as a schoolteacher in the mining town of Coal Valley and steps into a whole different world. Her life back among her wealthy Eastern family is a stark contrast to her primitive life in the West, and Beth isn't sure where she belongs anymore. Is she ready to fully give her heart to Jarrick, knowing it will mean saying good-bye to her family and her life of privilege once again? And when Beth trusts the wrong person, will Jarrick be able to help her despite the distance between them?

I want to start by saying that I love Janette Oke's books! She has been a favorite author of mine for many years. This book was a little disappointing to me. Not her usual style, in my opinion. I wish she would have kept with the Canadian west theme. Not the worst book I've ever listen to though. I hoping book #3 in this series will be better. :)

face .Theyre great faith is surpasses by Christ !They cling on to God's plan ,and remember evil Christ faced ,makes their
suffering seems nothing ,They call on Him to lead them through, this scary fearful threat to one family member !

Very enjoyable and spiritually uplifting. Janette Oke is dependably excellent in her storytelling and Laurel Oke Logan added a new and exciting dimension.

absolutely love this author and her reads. this story dod not disappoint. if you are looking for the lower level, fleshy version of action and human interactions this book is not for you. but if you are interested in quality of life love and purpose then jump right in I guarantee your mind will be better off for having listened. awesome! listen!

I love Christian fiction, especially historical fiction. This wealthy family appreciate their gifts and gives us a different view of life in their era

For years I loved this story that I had seen in a movie. Now only 2 books in… I’m already enthralled & mesmerized by the complexity this author has delivered & I can’t wait to read through all the rest of the books so I can enjoy this story as richly as I am now experiencing.

The charters were well done., very believable. I like the mystery in the story. I liked the way they interacted with each other.
I would listen again and tell others to listen.
