About this listen
STONE COLD IS THE SEVENTH BOOK IN THE WILDER HAWK MOUNTAIN MAN ADVENTURE SERIES FROM D. M. HAGGARD
Wilder’s trek home from Montana to the southern Rockies is interrupted when Crow raiders attack three stranded wagons not far from his campsite. The pioneers are part of a wagon train, left behind when they stopped to nurse a sick family member. Wilder catches up to the major portion of the train in the hope of convincing its leader to wait for the stragglers to catch up. The callous and inexperienced wagon master abruptly quits, leaving the pioneers to their fate.Though he wants to return to his home, Wilder agrees to lead the train through the rugged Yellowstone region and eventually to California. The unexpected trip brings pleasures and perils. His road home, a journey over a thousand miles through the parched desert of Nevada and Arizona, brings him to Fort Mojave, where he saves a young Hopi accused of cattle killing. This issue eventually lands him in a conflict between the Hopi and the Navajo that can eventually create a tribal war between the two nations
