About this listen

The night has teeth....

A boy on his way home from a little league game, viciously attacked, some of his flesh devoured....

A band of street people found dead in a subway tunnel, their skin riddle with sharp, bloody gashes....

A young woman attacked and killed inside an apartment elevator....

Something is loose on the streets of Manhattan, nesting in the subways, living in the building walls. Creatures with a vicious and insatiable taste for human flesh. And as darkness falls again, who can stop the carnage?

Should be a movie!

In the style of the older scifi/monter movies this would be a fun watch. It was definitely a fun read.

Creature Feature

Loved it! I read this back in the late 90s and couldn't remember the name. Its a creature feature with a giant mutant bat. The story has good pacing.

Jeff Rovin weaves an exceptionally tense story!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.I was pleasantly surprised at the depth and intricacy the author tells this story with. It is at times fun, but overall the tension builds quite steadily. The narration is overall good, with the exception of the narrators attempts at female voices. But honestly? This is a sure fire ride from someone who is apparently a MASTER storyteller. You won't go wrong and, if you're like me, you'll come away from this wondering how they have not made a big budget movie out of this.

A good piece of entertainment

Vespers.
Do you remember those horror B movies with mutant creatures. This is like them but is well written and a good read. Coupled with superb narration it makes for an entertaining read listen.
Sit back.suspend reality.relax and enjoy !

Vespers Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Vespers

As a big fan of bats, I enjoyed this attack of the “fill in the blank animal” story. It follows the fairly formulaic process of a law enforcement agent paired up with the animal specialist, both are single, both slowly become attracted to each other, both save the world. While these stories follow a similar plotline, it isn’t about the destination so much as the ride getting there. Who wouldn’t be both afraid and in awe of large bats with a horde of little ones attacking?

I enjoyed the plot, the overarching storyline was predictable, but the individual pieces were fun to listen to. I really like bats and have tried unsuccessfully for years to get them to live in my batbox in my yard, although I don’t really know a whole lot about them. That said, not sure how accurate any of the bat science was, mutated ones aside. I did feel like from time to time the author took the time to give some decent history or information around various things that I enjoyed listening to. I actually like learning when listening to fiction.

The characters seemed a bit typical, primarily focusing around Gentry and Joyce. Gentry reminded me of a radio show around a detective. Really was drawn to him as a character because of that and enjoyed his story. Joyce reminded me of that naturally attractive woman in a field dominated by men and has thus focused on her career waiting to find the right person. Fortunately Gentry comes along. I know it can be a bit cliché for this relationship to develop, but I liked it.

Don Warrick did a great job with the narration. Wasn’t overly excited about his voice for the women, but I think he did everything else well. The energy he put into his narration really helped bring it to life and keep me on the edge of my seat waiting to hear what was around the corner.

Mutated Bats

If you were never afraid of bats before you maybe after listening. This book is about abnormal bat behavior such as attacking people without being provoked due to following and protecting large mutated bats. It was informative as full of action and good listen. Bats in the belfry!

Great story, very interesting, with exciting, unexpected action throughout the tale. I’m impressed with just how compelling this story is. I wasn’t expecting anything so fascinating, especially regarding bats. The writing is simply brilliant. The characters are very likable and well-developed. The budding romance between Joyce and Robert was anticipated, yet charming and well-scripted. The same story by someone less gifted could have been mundane and uninspiring. The narration by Don Warrick was also excellent. As you can tell by my gushing, I liked everything about the story. Well done Mr. Rovin. Vespers

I enjoyed this monster bat story! It was very good, just lacking the newest science on giant bats actually existing in antiquity.People are being attacked by bats for no apparent reason.Bring in the bat expert,a few scientists,a cop and a news crew and you get to the bottom of things. Don Warrick was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.'

Just not going anywhere by Chapter 17

I expected a little mystery, action and suspense. The story has been a dull straight line up into Chapter 17, so far. We know what is doing the killing right away, but must go through the procedural process of the people on the ground. Procedure, not action. Meanwhile, the narrator has whistling dentures or something. It becomes pronounced at times. His voice is far too old for the characters. The young female lead sounds like an old toothless woman who tongues her words. Very disappointed. Five and a half more hours of plodding narrative? I don't care anymore. Let the Vesper win, Please, stop having these narrators who are too old for the characters.
