About this listen

Kat Richardson’s enormously popular Greywalker paranormal investigations series is now a fixture on the New York Times bestseller list. In her fourth adventure, Seattle PI Harper Blaine delves into her own past and makes some shocking discoveries.

It seems that before her father committed suicide, he had witnessed some bizarre supernatural events. With barely any time to process this new info, Harper is pressured by a group of vampires into an investigation in London—where old foes and more revelations await.

The other reviewers were right

The story is fast paced and interesting. Ms Barron’s attempt at an elderly man’s British accent is distracting at best and nail on chalkboard bad at worst. If you can read this book on paper instead of listening for this one, do it. It’s AWFUL

awful narration

I've listened to all of the books in this series, and don't recall the narration being so annoying in the others. In this one, it doesn't sound like the narrator is telling you a story; it's more like she's doing a really stilted audition monologue. She takes significant pauses after every comma and emphasizes the last word of every phrase. I'm only part of the way through the book, so I can't comment on the story - although I'm sure it's fine, as were the other three - but the narration is driving me nuts.

Liked the Story arc developing

The narration was good. The narrator's pacing and voices fit the story. The storyline in this book was interesting with Harper traveling to different locations. You learn about Harper's family history and meet her mom. The overall series arc starts to unveil and has hooked me. This book is full of action and twists. It held my attention. I really enjoyed this book. Cant wait to see what happens in the next one.

I really enjoy the stories but struggle with the narrator’s voices.

I struggle with the narrator’s voices, particularly the male ones. They’re almost painful. All the same, the stories themselves are fun enough that I keep coming back for more.

Want to know why Harper is a Greywalker?

The title is a bit misleading … if I were to pick a similar title name I would call it Revealed or Unearthed. The fourth book in the Greywalker series reveals many things about Harper’s past and many things about why and how she become a Greywalker. Also some interesting plot lines brought up in the first book and practically dropped for the next two are finally brought up again and more is revealed.

Also I’ve found that the grey is becoming normal, as normal as any paranormal thing can be. I am no longer confused by the oddities of the grey, and find that it makes sense.

Finally, Harper gets to explore other parts of the world beside Seattle. She visits London! Full of great history and lots of paranormal activity in the grey!

Also I had no problem with the narration. I think that Mia Barron does a great job!

Narrator distracts from the book's potential

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes - but not as an audiobook

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

n/a

How could the performance have been better?

not speak in a false "spooky" slow mock-creeper voice for every character that wasn't the main one or making a 18 year old boy sound like a spoiled 6 year old.

Was Vanished: Greywalker, Book 4 worth the listening time?

No - it set me on edge listening to many of the characterizations

Any additional comments?

Better read than listened to.

Excellent

I Loved reading Kat's books, but Love listening to Mia narrate them even more. She really gets into the part and I like that. Great job!
