About this listen

An impossible romance. Bitter rivalries. Deadly choices.

To save the life of the boy she loves, Jacinda did the unthinkable: She betrayed the most closely guarded secret of her kind. Now she must return to the protection of her pride, knowing she might never see Will again... and worse, that because his mind has been shaded, Will's memories of that fateful night and why she had to flee are gone.

Back home, Jacinda is greeted with hostility and must work to prove her loyalty for both her sake and her family's. Among the few who will even talk to her are Cassian, the pride's heir apparent, who has always wanted her, and her sister, Tamra, who has been forever changed by a twist of fate. Jacinda knows that she should forget Will and move on, that if he managed to remember and keep his promise to find her, it would only endanger them both. Yet she clings to the hope that someday they will be together again. When the chance arrives to follow her heart, will she risk everything for love?

In best-selling author Sophie Jordan's dramatic follow-up to Firelight, forbidden love burns brighter than ever.

Very good!

I really enjoyed this rendition, I've read the book before and thoroughly enjoyed it, and couldn't stop listening.

Thrilling and Frustrating at the Same Time!

Any additional comments?

I was surprised by the negative reviews! I thought it was a perfect sequel to a very exciting trilogy! Getting an inside look at the pride, the place where Jacinda should feel the most comfortable, the most at home. However, all the hatred and accusing sentiments toward her for revealing what she is to hunters and, even worse, her falling in love with one! I can feel the anxiety and turmoil Jacinda goes through! If I didn't listen to it I would be skipping the pages just to find out what happens next!

Way too much self loathing!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend it, but with a warning. Some parts are extremely frustrating. They are many times when the main character could defend herself, but does not. She also find a way to blame herself for EVERYTHING. I'm not a fan of self loathing characters. The twin sister was also extremely irritating. Overall, it's a good story though. The first book was better.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Therese Plummer?

Yes

Could you see Vanish being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes

Loved the story's growth!

What did you love best about Vanish?

Hate to give away the story, but I loved Tamra's changes and Cassian's continued involvement and determination to win Jucinda.

What other book might you compare Vanish to and why?

I do not have a comparison.

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Therese Plummer is superb at changing characters. You know exactly who is speaking when she performs and she has made each character come to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not extreme, but there were some "yeah!" moments. Tamra evolving, the grey draqui being able to finally change and then the understory of him and Tamra.

Team Tamra!!!

Any additional comments?

If it wasn't for her I would probably not continue with the series. The fact that she goes beast mode made me happy. The story is a little crippled because of the choices the family made in the first book but you start to fight what Jacinda does. I get her personality, I just don't connect with her, so I find myself wondering why I continue to listen. Then I realize I'm waiting to see what happens to Tamra. Team Tamra!

Parallel universe to Maximum Ride

I am not a fan of lots and lots of internal monolog and repeated over and over again many times debates about how kissing each boy can result in end-of-the-world scenarios. Are there really people who think like that?

Captavating Storyline

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I love this series. The story is more in modern times, so it's nice to think that dragons, or draki exist in this time frame.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Vanish?

The Bonding.

Which scene was your favorite?

When Tamra and Jessinda talk and make up.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Always coming back.....even if it's for the worse.

Cliffhanger....😕

Why do you make me spend more money on another book?

The way you are left hanging is ridiculous...that's the YA genre for you. Remind me to stay away next time lest I get caught up in another story. LoL
