About this listen

Revenge and fate come together in the seventh installment of the Pyte/Sentinel series as New York Times best-selling author R.L. Mathewson tells the story of how one of the deadliest shifters in our world is finally brought to his knees.

The plan was simple. Keep her safe, out of his way, and focus on the only thing that mattered.

He didn’t need her, didn’t want her, and...he couldn’t stop thinking about her. No matter how many times Kale tries, he can’t stay away from her, and god, does he try. With a bounty on his head and shifters, demons, and vampires doing everything they could to find him, the last thing that Kale needs is to fall in love with his mate. This wasn’t supposed to happen. No one was supposed to find her. At least, that was the plan, but somehow the incredibly sexy shifter that loved to glare had found her, and now...

She was finally where she belonged. The only problem was, Ashley had no idea why, but she wasn’t going to complain. Not when things were finally starting to make sense. What she was going to do was pretend that the shifter that hated her didn’t make her want things that she couldn’t have. She just needed to lay low, pretend that she had no idea why anyone would be after her, and hope that her secrets didn’t tear them apart.

Don’t let a bad narration stop you from reading this book it was amazing!

I absolutely love R L Mathewson‘s books. The Pyte/Sentinel series is definitely one of my favorites! I expected to be way more disappointed than I actually was in this book. Veronica Worthington really blew it! For those of us who love these books, it would’ve been very nice if she had bothered to learn how to say the names properly. When I listen to books on tape, it’s like having a movie in your head. I listen to these all the time, and I was really sorry that her pronunciation of Ephraim name was horrible! It definitely stopped the flow of the book as your brain was always trying to figure out who the character was even though these are characters you know so well. I love the storyline! And it was definitely a good read. No matter how badly done the narration was. I certainly hope she will continue to produce this series. I would love to have Joshua’s story. Don’t let it bad narration stop you from reading this book!

Can’t handle the narration

For the sake of the story it’s enjoyable.
However the narration change was not good. Different pronunciation of words that had been steady for 6 books to change. Like she had not done any research prior to recording this.

Seriously?

Did no one listen to this book before it was released?? Being a die-hard fan of this series, you get a picture of what the characters look like, and this narration makes you think Mark is grown, that Kal is only Irish part-time, and all the women are the same. Very disappointing. I will definitely be checking out who the narrarator is from now on.

Happy Kale got his story

After being the bad guy with a good heart for so long it’s nice to find out what Kale does when he finds love. In character he fights against love but is Ashley what he needs?
The story gets rushed at the end. People are popping up in places without explanation. It was so confusing that I thought maybe the audiobook might be skipping.
Would’ve been all 5 stars if not for that. Now on to Jacob or Lucan.

Love this series

Can’t get enough of this series! Only thing that was a little upsetting was the character name getting mispronounced. It drove me crazy but over all I absolutely loved it!!!

The Hero: Kale - he is a shifter who hasn’t shifted for over 200 years. In the 1100’s after his father died, the leader of the tribe, Khan, who wasn’t even an alpha did them an injustice. Their lands were taken away and they were forced to serve the humans that were now the landowners. Kale couldn’t wait till he reached his immortality so he could challenge Khan and take their pack out of there. Kale had been keeping a secret, a lad he knew had fallen into a deep sleep and grew into a man in less than a month. Kale thought the lad would help them, though he didn’t know what the lad was. But when the lad woke, his eyes were red.

The heroine: Ashley - she is 45 years old and is extremely small and has to wear children’s clothing which make her look even younger than she is, which isn’t made better by the condition she was born with which stopped her growth when she was 10 years old. Many people think she is a child and are always asking where her parents are, especially at the library where she works in New York City. Ashley gets home from work one night, and her apartment is full of large men.

The Story: Kale is now a mercenary; he is the best at his job and is highly paid for it. He also helps out the Williams at times, Izzy is the mate of one of them and he has promised to protect her. He goes to New York to help Izzy out with a situation that came up due to her computer program, tattletale. It revolved around a little girl who was near death after being beaten. There were irregularities in her blood, making her a pyte. Kale hates pyte’s and plans to kill the girl, but when he touches her, he is marked. She is his mate.

I was waiting for Kale’s story, since he has been in so many of the previous books. He was such a hard case and he was in this book as well. He denied his feelings for Ashley despite having the mating marks from the beginning. I liked how he tried to go on with his life as it was but couldn’t keep her out of his mind. Ashley had a good back story as well and she was so happy when she went through her transformation into a pyte and finally grew up after looking like a ten year old for 35 years.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via solo narration. It was narrated by Veronica Worthington. She was a different narrator than the last books. Her voice isn’t my favorite, it is a bit deep for a woman and kind of scratchy sounding. Though she does a decent job and uses different voices for different characters.

Kale is a sexy badass

Lets start out by saying I'm addicted to these books. I have listened to them all at least 5 times. Kale is my favorite character and I was super excited for this book. then I saw a new narrator *sigh* I was not happy at all. she not only changed how Ephraim's name is pronounced, but all the characters sound waaaay to different. I use to be able to tell the difference really easy and the sexy accents the men had drove me crazy. The book itself was amazing, like I said Kale is my favorite and getting to see him shift was fu##ing awesome. I look forward to the next instalment of this series. I really hope you change back to the last narrator.

New Narrator ... disappointed

I'm sure there are a few people listening to this story whom have been fans a lot longer than I. So please keep this in mind that this is my own perspective... to the point

I only recently joined audible within the last 2 months and I work a job that is mostly silent. so I was primarily listening to true crime stories on you tube through a variety of tubers whilst i was earning my wages. I was bombarded with many discount codes and such to join audible. so I figured less murder and mayhem. why not?

on to my review of "Unstoppable" I listened to a few stories before I found this series. narrators change I'm used to that by now. However, I binged this entire series in about a week. This book, which I might add I was looking forward to, as Kale Quinn was the character I was most looking forward to hearing his full story. I saw there was a new narrator and flinched. she didn't do a terrible job on the story itself the only grippes I have are that she changed the way she said Epherium's name, which I rolled my eyes to every time. his name has been pronounced the same way for 6 books now and to have her come in and change it was nonsensical to me. the worst thing about the entire narrative was she made Kale sound like an old man to me. Not at all the sexy asshole shifter I was expecting. it was a complete let down. other than that the book was great. It progressed the story, her voice was easy to listen to, and she enunciated clearly. I'm looking forward to the next installment of this series.

If the author or production company is reading these reviews please consider going back to one of the previous narrator's as the voices and accents they used were far better than tje one used for this book in my personal opinion.

i believe this to be my first review, but I felt that something needed to be said. the book can not be skipped if you love the series and characters as I do, but it was really a let down for me.

Love the story

Okay, the voice of Kale was off. Okay every characters’ was off. It felt forced. Ashley was slightly stupid. Her intelligence and logic were that of a 3rd grader. Now, with that being said. I've read the complaint about the supposed mispronunciation of Ephraim’s name. Okay, we are all saying it wrong because it's a Hebrew name. She is pronouncing it correctly when it comes to the English language. If you want to be accurate, then say it in Hebrew, then you will be saying it correctly. You're just used to hearing it a certain way. Okay, now, Mistake (I forgot the name she gave herself.) she was another idiot. Ethan gives off stalker vibes. He freaked me out. Drew, he's adorable. Chris messing with him had me laughing out loud. My favorite character is Jacob. Hands down the cutest. I would have tapped that and forgotten Kale. But that's just me. I don't fall in love with someone who treats me poorly. I still love the story, though.
