Publisher's summary

Plain and simple, life doesn’t always turn out the way we imagined. Yet, we can respond in God-glorifying ways even when circumstances fall short of our desired hopes and expectations. With practical and biblical counsel from the scriptures, we have the tools we need to put away sinful responses and be women who smile at the future (Proverbs 31:25).

In reshaping how we think about disappointments, trials, and delays, we can grow in contentment, trust, and hope in the unexpected parts of life.

In each chapter, we’ll look to the scriptures for the life-transforming help only God can give. This book is designed to be an aid to growth, which is why inductive bible study questions accompany each chapter, providing even more treasures from God’s word for hope and encouragement.

Life changing!

This book was just what my heart needed. It is written for believers who are struggling through disappointment and fear. The advice is biblically supported and so helpful. I listened to each chapter several times so the truths would 'soak in'. I plan to listen to it many more times.

excellent message

I enjoyed the Biblical content and numerous Bible references. I subsequently bought a hard copy of the book.

Thank you Mrs. Hughes for Helping Me “Reshape my thinking”

The women in my small group from (Sunday School) have been going through this book this summer (the paperback version). I purchased the Audible version as well in order to replace some “unhelpful/unprofitable” books I had been listening to in a darker genre (psychological thrillers)… enough said.

I’d never heard of this author before, so I am very glad this book was chosen for our study. I remain a sinner, but only while in this “jar of clay” 2 Corinthians 4:7. I’ve become weary of “psychological help” for my trials if it excludes the biblical perspective. Lisa Hughes cites Scripture left and right! My trials are not only “psychological/emotional”, or all due to past trauma, etc., but we, as believers suffer trials of various kinds James 1:2-4. She tells us how to reshape our thinking in these trials.

Lisa Hughes has given four statements to put in my “survival-mode-thinking backpack” (author’s words) on pg. 125 of the paperback (Chapter 8). The first one is: I’m a sinner and I’m not receiving what I deserve, which is to be sent to hell for eternity for sinning against Holy God (my words). However, Romans 6:23 and John 3:16 apply here. The second is: My trials are fewer than my sins. Read or “listen on” to find some more helpful info…and Praise the Lord!
