Publisher's summary
Witness the creation of an American Indian Hero. Although this is historical fiction, Ulzana was an actual person, the brother of Chihuahua, a Chiricahua sub-chief. The Apache life-way in this story is presented the way it actually was - the way Ulzana really lived it.
The story follows Ulzana through all the stages of his life from infancy to boyhood, through his training as a warrior, his ritual life as son, husband and father, and through 40 years of war against both the Mexicans and the “White Eyes”. Not only is this Ulzana’s story, it’s also the story of the Cho-ken-en (Chiricahua Apaches), their eventual surrender to the US Army and the Shis-Inday (Apache) betrayal by the American government.
Here are all the heroes and villains as they lived, bled, and died. After listening to Ulzana’s story, you’ll appreciate these remarkable people in a new and authentic light. Sometimes, just at sunset, if you walk through the deserts and mountains of Arizona and New Mexico, you may still hear the sounds of their laughter and their weeping carried on the winds sweeping down from the heights. The mountains remember their dignity.
If you want the most complete possible understanding of what the Apache became in terms of what they experienced, you must listen to all three books of the Chiricahua Apache series.

They called him Mickey Free. His kidnapping started the longest war in American history, and both sides - the Apaches and the white invaders - blamed him for it. A mixed-blood warrior who moved uneasily between the worlds of the Apaches and the American soldiers, he was never trusted by either but desperately needed by both. He was the only man Geronimo ever feared. He played a pivotal role in this long war for the desert Southwest from its beginning in 1861 until its end in 1890 with his pursuit of the renegade scout Apache Kid.

Ordered to hold an abandoned army post, John Dunbar found himself alone, beyond the edge of civilization. Thievery and survival soon forced him into the Indian camp, where he began a dangerous adventure that changed his life forever. For 24 winters, the blond child had been held captive by the Indians. Now rangy, raw-boned Ben Allison set out to heat up a stone-cold trail and bring Amy Johnston home. He was armed with only an old mountain man's map, a cheap gold locket, an ornery pack mule, and his army Colt. It was an impossible mission leading straight into hostile Indian country. Ben was keenly aware that the search for Amy could very well be his own death hunt.

Story
On October 28, 1940, Mussolini provides Greek Prime Minister Ioannis Metaxas with an ultimatum - either allow Axis forces to occupy their country or face war - and Greece’s response is swift: “Oxi!” they say. “No!” In a small village nestled against the radiant waters of the Aegean Sea, Alexei, the son of a local fisherman, and his best friend Costa - who were both born on the same night eighteen years earlier and have been like brothers ever since - leave their homes, like all the other young men in their village and throughout Greece, to bravely fight for their country.

Story
This is audiobook number one in the Casca Series. When they flew Casey into the hospital at Nha Trang, the medics were sure he would die. That he didn't was only the first surprise. The second, and bigger one, was that Casey had been fighting for two thousand years, ever since that day on Golgotha when he thrust his lance into the side of the man on the cross.

Story
The Sojourn is the story of Jozef Vinich, who was uprooted from a 19th-century mining town in Colorado by a family tragedy and returns with his father to an impoverished shepherd’s life in rural Austria-Hungary. When World War One comes, Jozef joins his adopted brother as a sharpshooter in the Kaiser’s army, surviving a perilous trek across the frozen Italian Alps and capture by a victorious enemy. A stirring tale of brotherhood, coming-of-age, and survival, this novel evokes a time when Czechs, Slovaks, Austrians, and Germans fought on the same side while divided by language, ethnicity, and social class.

Thomas McNulty, having fled the Great Famine in Ireland and now barely 17 years old, signs up for the US Army in the 1850s and with his brother in arms, John Cole, goes to fight in the Indian Wars - against the Sioux and the Yurok - and, ultimately, in the Civil War.
