About this listen

An elite criminal hacker takes control of a US submarine, training its nuclear missiles on a target that, if struck, will cause devastating climate change across the globe. With the world held ransom, only former NSA operative Lana Elkins and her crew of cyberspies stand a chance at averting this unprecedented Armageddon. But as time runs out, a sinister figure from Lana's past puts the mission in jeopardy. Caught in a trifecta of intrigue, power, and blackmail, Lana must prevent the worst catastrophe in human history, or countries will fall to the mercy of a new ruthless superpower.

The author of Lethal Code returns with a new geopolitical thriller that takes the threat of cyberterror to its shocking extreme.

Good

I thoroughly enjoyed the female voice. I wish more stories were told by the female vocal. I love to hear their accents on syllables us guys would pass over. This is a good book to read. I can't imagine the damage such a flood could effect.

Struggle through the first chapter

The performance gate and manner feels out of step with the content early on. A few chapters in and it starts to find its stride like season 3 of any tv series.
The overall story isn’t bad if you stand back and squint at it, but don’t read it expecting hard-science or extremely accurate detail.

Gripping

This is a great book. The author really has in-depth knowledge of cyber-security and military operations and turns that into a very entertaining and interesting read.

So - so

It wasn't the same as the first novel. I thought it was all over the place. I wasn't happy with it.

Not enjoyable

I found the characters paper thin and not believable.

The ecoterrorism plot is a reach and not even internally consistent. Consider: the Sydney Opera House is 213 feet tall. With a 4 foot rise in sea level, how is it only the peaks are visible above the water? There are many other inaccuracies which leaves one puzzled.

To be fair, I should note the reader does a good job.

Save your money.

Not even remotely realistic

I hate giving bad feedback, but this was the worst story I’ve listened to since becoming an Audible member. The cyber aspect of this story was ridiculous. The overblown description of the opening scene was a red flag to me. I should have stopped there. It felt like this was written by a high school student in an advanced English class. The end of the story with the DC antagonists was completely pointless. I don’t think the writer has any experience with the military, drug dealers, cyber warfare, or parenting. And clearly, research was not engaged in this project. The focus on climate change tells me this is political tripe and not worthy of a novel.

not great

the reading was done well, the story, from a military perspective was not well researched. The military uses M-4s or M-16s, not AR-15s. the military uses magazines never, ever clips. the Navy does not Land F-15s on aircraft carriers. they can't the F-15 is an Air Force aircraft.

too much PC crap about global warming. I dont recommend, I don't want to read book one, and will not be looking for any other books from this author
