About this listen

What's worse than Australian wildlife? Mutated Australian wildlife.

Audiobook has been updated with all new male narrator and voices!

The System Apocalypse has come to Australia, altering native organisms and importing even more menacing creatures to the most dangerous continent on Earth. For Kira Kent, plant biologist, the System arrives while she's pulling an all nighter at work with her pair of kids in tow.

Now, instead of mundane parental concerns like childcare and paying the bills, she's got to figure out how to survive a world where already deadly flora and fauna have grown even more perilous - all while dealing with the minutiae of the System’s pesky blue screens and Levels and somehow putting together a community of survivors to forge a safe zone to shelter her son and daughter.

It almost makes her miss the PTA fundraising sales. Almost.

Town Under is the first book in a new series, The System Apocalypse: Australia. It's set in the same universe as Tao Wong's The System Apocalypse and starts in the same time period as Life in the North but focuses on the changes in the deadliest of continents, Australia. Fans of the original series, LitRPG, fantasy, science-fiction and post-apocalyptic novels will want to take a look.

Audio narration adjusted on 2022/01/29.

Not going to lie, I picked this book because I saw Heath Miller was one of the narrators and I really enjoy all of the books he narrates. When I saw the "male voice" criticisms I was shocked because I genuinely love Heath's style and voices. Then I saw that the book had been "adjusted" with "all-new narrator and voices" and realized that Heath had replaced the old narrator and knew the criticisms were based on old versions. After listening, I can say he does a great job and I was very satisfied with his performance as he never fails to deliver. I enjoyed the female narration as well, love the female representation in a profession that tends to be male dominated, both performances were wonderful. If you liked this litrpg style, I recommend Heath's other litrpg performances as well, especially "He Who Fights With Monsters." As for the story, I would say it was a combination of prepper meets RPG, like One Second After and Dungeon Crawler had a baby and poof this book was born. As a mother who loves to game, has prepper tendencies (thanks to COVID) and two small children, this book hit pretty close to home, however I admittedly struggled a little with the main character and her character development (kinda like the author took a male persona and simply changed the gender). The world creation was pretty simple, but entertaining enough and I enjoyed the overall style and story creation. Well done and would recommend to others. Happy reading.

One Second After had baby with RPG Dungeon Crawler

I have become obsessed with this book. It took me a little time to get used to the reader. But after the first few listens I got used to her.
maybe simply because I would've read things a little different at first. Or imagined the characters saying things differently. But it's a great book and great listen none the less! I'm buying any other books that are a part of this series

Great story!!!

The whole story was absolutely fantastic. The MC is great and every other character is well developed. Andrea has a strong voice which is great. The male voice was and is very hard to understand he mumbled thru almost every male voice, it sounds like he has marbles in his mouth, Also when I could understand him the accent was not there.

Good Book... But

Truly I loved this book but the male narrator rubbed me the wrong way. Andrea is amazing as always but the male narrator made every male character sound the same. And worse yet they all sounded like they had just come from the dentist and had golf balls in their mouths. Aside from that if you love the System Apocalypse universe you will love this book

Great addition to the universe

Overall, I really like this spinoff. But the male voice actor is just not working for me. I hope this improves with book 2.

What da Hells with the male voices!!!

Love the book. Disappointed by the accents and omg pls learn how to say kookaburra. Male voice was bloody terrible. Female voice really good apart from accent, will be looking up her other works.
