it needs more! I enjoyed it a lot though I had a hard time at first getting used to the Narrator but he quickly grew on me. the progression is steady and the MC is never OP but always above the curve on power.

solid story and telling

I try to get the long ones, and here we have 46 hours. The MC is a bounty hunter, and as blue screens pop up for him, he waves them away because he's busy with a criminal. That start is one of the best opening scenes I've seen in the genre.

Turns out, waving the screens away until he had a minute gains him rare class related to bounty hunting. It's not an overpowered class, but definitely feels well earned. After that, we get many chapters of the descent of Pittsburgh into being part of a new Dungeon world. Goblins, centaur races, elves, lots of monsters.

About eight hours in, he gets to a monster-monster-monster grinding phase. I kinda went "uh-oh" but stuck it out. So, there are these competing groups of fantasy-based aliens bringing new infrastructure to Earth, and the MC is a person with a particular set of rare skills. The MC gets offered dodgy, difficult work by dodgy clients. There's still plenty of monsters to kill, but now he's working for various powerful organizations with conflicting interests.

Recommended.

Enjoyed the heck out of this book.The third in it series. MC's character development timely with not a lot of filler.
Really enjoyed his personality.
And the fact that they didn't waste a whole bunch of time on romance to sides step the main story. I like how when he made money, he wasn't obscenely rich and able to buy whatever he wanted and continuously have to work to get more. After kicking a whole bunch of butt stop to get whiskey.I definitely recommend this one and can't wait for the next

over 2 years of using audible. voice is noticeably different than most, but quickly became one of my favorites. waiting on the 4th book!

I had a hard time actually paying attention to the book I'm not sure if it's the reader or how it's written but I just couldn't pay attention even now I'm typing this during a fight screen not even sure what's going on. if your driving this story will work for you, but if your doing anything with this as a background you won't be able to follow along. least I couldn't.

nice story really feels like it's in the same world as other books of the same world build

the pacing and plot lines are good and interesting. the characters are interesting as well. Strangely for me, I did not like the main character, and normally I would stop reading. I stuck with the story though and didn't have any trouble maintaining my interest - it seems I don't HAVE to like the main character after all.

the narrators performance was excellent.

In Book 1 Hal scoffs at people for not reading all the details in contracts, he goes on to see humans enslaved or killed because they didn’t read the details.

In Book 2, a year has passed, and in that time he has become a slave for some dark elf because he forgot to read the terms of a contract? Is the author this bad that they need to rewrite a character and give him flaws he didn’t have previously?

The change was so jarring I think I’m done with the series, not going to touch anything else in this “universe” if this is what happens between books.
