About this listen

To Build a Fire is regarded by many as an American classic, one of London's most highly regarded works. We never know the name of the protagonist as he makes his way towards his destination, trekking across the Yukon at 70° below zero. Nature is unforgiving to those who challenge her.

Great Classic, Great Narrator

I like Mike Vendetti, for the material that suits his voice.
Londons To Build A Fire. Classic. Short that is enough out of me.

Precise and dreamy at the same time

Narrarotor has a matter of fact reading style, which allows the listener to focus on one's own experience plugging oneself in as the protagonist, making for a great listen. The journey of this protagonist is almost poetic.

Poor narration ruins a great short story.

Would you try another book from Jack London and/or John Michaels?

Jack London is magnificent and I've read this story before, long years ago. However the narrator reads too fast and oddly emphasizes certain words. The rhythm was too jarring and ruined the story for me.

Great story, horrendous reading.

How could the performance have been better?

This reading sounded half computer, half person. Several of the words were blended or read at weird speeds.

Terrible Performance

What would have made To Build a Fire better?

This sounded like my GPS was reading the story to me. Wish I could get my money back.

Any additional comments?
