About this listen

Angelica Robles is a skilled investigator who has worked at various levels of government. In Through These Brown Eyes, the tables have turned…investigator becomes confessor, telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so helped by her God.

Having lived her early years in Mexico followed by a childhood in a rough Chicago neighborhood, Angelica Robles understands the meaning of "adapt and survive". Childhood injuries and abuse resulted in a thick skin—a negative turned to a positive—which she put to good use during the most extreme criminal investigations over the course of her professional career.

In a profession dominated by men, nothing would hold her back. However, a career is only one aspect of a life lived to the fullest. Love, sex, murder, drugs, betrayal, adrenaline…are you ready for this ride?

The ride is not yet to its destination, but Angelica Robles is driving on a boulevard to rebirth. She hopes that by sharing the bumps in her own road, the road for others may become smoother.

Read bc of a podcast interview

This book jumped around a lot as far as following a story line. The reader sounded like she was reading and didn’t make it easy to listen to

I really wanted to enjoy this book

I wanted to like this story but found it difficult to stay interested. The narration was not good and her tone and pitch aggravated me. I bailed on this countless times hoping it would get better, but didn't.

2x speed

I heard the YT interview and thought it was and is a very interesting story. I decided to get the audio book and immediately regretted it. The The person sounds like she's reading a children's book..something about her cadence or delivery I couldn't stand. The YT interview was much better.

Wanted to hear more about her husband's criminal family & sadly that was only briefly addressed in the last 30 minutes.

Narration was not good, it felt like she was a librarian reading to a group of kindergarteners.

A common trend in Mexican women

The story had a great meaning and tells the story if many Latinas especially Mexican immigrants or families who chase the American dream and leave the children at risk. The toxic relationship stories and bad choices of strong resilient women. The uttermost Painfull part of this book is the narrator, she has a good storyline but she should not by no means narrate her story because it makes it very painful to finish listening to and want to even continue listening to her book. She should consider classes on how to narrate stories or have someone narrate the story for her PLEASE PLEASE for the sake of your next story. Otherwise the story has commonalities of a permiscuous young women who was a victim of sexual abuse,

Audio is hard to listen to.

I saw this ln tik tok and they emphasized so much around her husband which was interesting. The one chapter about him was the only interesting part of the book. I don’t think she should have read her own book. The cover is pretty.

The transparency and depth of your story!

The transparency, the detail and depth of your journey , the purpose and the fact that you narrated it yourself .. it allows me to connect even more with you and your story (although we’ve never met, feels like I somewhat know you ) This was very well put together

A great read!!

Came to find after seeing a podcast about the author. Everyone has different tastes, but I enjoyed the book thoroughly. I think it takes guts to be vulnerable and open your life up to so many people. The story captivated me and I couldn’t stop. It’s about everyday things that we go through and can relate but also suspenseful and shares some tragic truths. Only one way to find out if you like it, so see for yourself!
