Publisher's summary

Get in the holiday spirit with this sexy rom-com from the author of Nick and Noel's Christmas Playlist.

Merry Winters has the holiday blues. She's spent the last year learning to love herself, and now she's ready to find the right guy. But the pickings are slim in Mistletoe, Idaho, and it’s just her luck that the man who catches her eye is the stoic new foreman at her family’s Christmas tree farm. Too bad he wants to keep a 39-and-a-half-foot pole between them.

Single dad Clark Griffin isn't looking for romance, but he wouldn't mind a friend to snuggle with on a cold winter's night. When he signs up for online dating, he doesn't expect to connect with the sassy, crafty Knottygirl25 and get wrapped up in every message she writes.

But when Merry turns out to be his blind internet date, his surprise causes him to miss his chance under the mistletoe. Can a little Christmas magic give these two a second chance at a first impression?

Cute Story

The narrator was excellent and really made the characters come alive. This was one of those days feel good Christmas stories set in a Christmas tree farm in a small magical town. The sex was a little much and did not need to be so explicit.

There is something about Merry!

This story was very sweet. The turn out was surprising, it covered all the bases and gives you all the feels. Spoiler alert, the wood shop scene is very steamy. 😉

Sweet, entertaining holiday romance

There's something about Merry by Codi Hall is a holiday rom-com.
The audiobook is an Audible Original and free if you are an Audible Premium subscriber.

I was looking for holiday themed audiobooks when I bumped onto There's Something About Merry. A couple of reviews said it was pornographic and downright filthy, which was all the convincing I needed. I have to disagree with these reviews, I would rate it 🌶🌶🌶🌶 (= 1-5 sex scenes. May include harsh language). The steamy scenes appear very late in the story and are very carefully described, not filthy at all, but that's my opinion. I enjoyed them!

The story was 10 hours, 43 minutes, but it didn't feel that long because it is entertaining and keeps progressing.
I love it when a story has a message, this one has several. One of them is that it doesn't mean because someone acts a certain way, they are really that way. (for example: If someone is shy in a specific situation, it doesn't mean they are shy in general)

Clarke and Merry are both lovable characters that come across very realistically. I loved seeing them get to know each other better and grow in the couple they were at the end. They were so sweet together. At the beginning of the story, I would never have guessed that Clarke would grow into the caring, attentive boyfriend he was at the end.

There are many family moments, I enjoyed this aspect of the story. I liked how it shone a light on that every family is different and has a different dynamic. I loved how it gave the message that people don't have to be blood-related to be family.
There were several side characters, and I loved them all. Especially Jace and Sam. I hope Sam will get his own story with Holly.

CJ Bloom and Lee Samuels narrated the audiobook, and it was fantastic. I have listened to CJ Bloom before and love his voice. It was my first time listening to Lee Samuels, but I will definitely listen again.  She has a pleasant, soft voice.
Both narrators were completely into the story and very consistent with their voices for the several characters.
The narration added to the story and brought the story and its characters to life.

If you love a feel-good holiday romance with lots of laughs, a little drama, emotions, and steam but lots of family moments and love, then this is a must-listen!

Cute story

Cute story for the season. A good listen that didn’t go too over the top with the antagonist part is the story like most writers do.

Good story, yes, it gets x-rated but not that bad

So for the most part this story reads pretty PG. Only PG due to some strong language and imagery. The story is pretty straight forward. Doesn't do a lot of back and forth or drama. Things you think will pop up and create stalls or drama in the story, don't.

When the story does move towards the sex scenes (which there aren't many, maybe like 2), it does get a bit graphic. But I think that's just because they are a stark contrast from what the rest of the story is like. The story reads like a Hallmark movie and then it kinda goes HBO after dark, lol. But again, there aren't a bunch of those scenes and the story returns to the Hallmark movie vibe afterwards.

I think the story is cute. I honestly think it was a bit longer than it needed to be. It didn't FEEL as long as it is, but Idk...just seems like there are some passages or chapters that could have been left out. The narrators do a pretty good job. I enjoyed their performances.

It was better than a Hallmark movie

That was absolutely adorable! The kid was so cute and I loved how they got together! I also love that there wasn’t the thing that most romances do where the guy screws up after they’ve been in a relationship for a while, I really liked that.

Lots of Christmas spirit

Cute story with lots pf Christmas spirit and romance. I just couldn’t fully connect with the story. For me it felt too long. Good narration.

A Hallmark Channel Movie on Audible

I am sad to say I didn't listen to the first book in this series because I absolutely enjoyed this audible. Merry and Clark's story is a mix of single dad romance, second chance romance, and some slow burn mixed in. There are times this book was sweet as Hallmark and the next moment it was HBO Max-level sexy! (Not complaining at all).

I do enjoy a good Hallmark movie but I am a busy mom of 4 who is cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping and running around all the time so movies don't happen often for me - so this was the next best thing. I enjoyed the banter between these two (and I loved Clark's brother Sam - and I hope he's next on the list for a book).
The narrators did a great job bring these characters to life.
