About this listen

The Wild Rose is a part of the sweeping, multigenerational saga that began with The Tea Rose and continued with The Winter Rose.

It is London, 1914. World War I looms on the horizon, women are fighting for the right to vote, and explorers are pushing the limits of endurance in the most forbidding corners of the earth. Into this volatile time, Jennifer Donnelly places her vivid and memorable characters: Willa Alden, a passionate mountain climber who lost her leg while summiting Kilimanjaro with Seamus Finnegan and will never forgive him for saving her life; Finnegan, a polar explorer who tries to forget Willa as he marries a beautiful young schoolteacher back home in England; Max von Brandt, a handsome German sophisticate who courts high society women, but has a secret agenda in wartime London. Many other beloved characters from The Winter Rose continue their adventures in The Wild Rose as well.

With myriad twists and turns, thrilling cliffhangers, and fabulous period detail and atmosphere, The Wild Rose provides a highly satisfying conclusion to an unforgettable trilogy.

Loved the entire series!!!!

This is a great listen, as are the two previous books in the series, with all it's machinations.
The characters are well developed so that you can not help but root for them at every turn and misfortune. The ending of this one is somewhat unrealistic, but certainly does nothing to distract the listener from enjoying all 3 books.
Jill Tanner's narration is simply wonderful. She brings the characters & the story to life.
I could listen to her forever!!!! I will now search for more books in which she is does the narration.
Don't hesitate to buy the series if you like entertaining and imaginative, historical novels, but you must read it in the order it was written.

The perfect ending

I had a little trouble getting into this one, but this one had so.e politics in it and I dont like politics, but the story was just as wonderful as the other two books and it had the perfect ending. The author did wrap it up in a pretty little bow, but it was a thrilling journey to get there. And it turns out that this is what you want for the characters, they've had it so hard and now I feel like I'm leaving them in a good place, a place to heal and grow. Thank you Jennifer Donnelly for this trilogy.

Great Trilogy

I fell in love with these characters and was very sad to say goodbye. I really liked how one book flowed right into the other. the plot was well developed, with lots of twists and turns. The characters were people I would know when I met them and most I would like to get to know better! highly recommend all three books!

i will listen again...

it was sad to let these characters go, and for that reason, I will definitely listen to this series again in a year or two. the narration of Jennifer's fabulously written book, was spot on, and made the entire book so incredible, that you could barely stop listening to talk to people. my family would text me to get my attention. lol it was just so fantastic!

this entire series was captivating. well worth a credit, or even two.

Absorbing Saga (Spoiler Alert!)

Would you listen to The Wild Rose again? Why?

No. I never listen to a book more than once.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Willa, the heroine. Flawed, beautiful, brilliant.

Have you listened to any of Jill Tanner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Same high quality narration. I have found all of Jill Tanner's work consistent.

Any additional comments?

This was my least favorite of the trilogy primarily due to how the villain of The Wild Rose was portrayed at the end despite all the horrible things he did -- not realistic to me.

Enjoyed everything about this book

From the adventures to the family history, this book is rich with story! I loved the reveals at the ending. There were big surprises and everything made sense. I love happy endings and got one of those too! Regretted to see this series over.

Great Read

I loved all three of these books. Because of the length you become very invested in the story. I didn’t care for Jill Tanner as a narrator because she sounds too “old” for most of the characters but have gotten used to her.
Without ruing the plot, I’ll just say that the last 30 minutes made a lot of the story make no sense for one of the characters. Otherwise the book was great.

Good book

Yes, it repeated a lot, but I still enjoyed it and knowing where the family went in all of it. It was also nice to have the same narrator.
